Has anyone used a 4 bolt 4.25 turn with p/n # 88277088 for a Saginaw conversion? I think it's a 69 Chevelle gearbox?

I don't remember what part # the one I got from NAPA was but a mid 60's Impala was the one that worked. I would think that a Chevelle would have a little quicker steering ration, like 3 - 3.5 turns.

Hope it helps.

The typical one posted here is for a 69 impala, may be same as chevelle, use napaonlines search to see. They call it a steering gear on their site.

NAPA part # 27-6529 is the 4 bolt, 4.25 turn large piston unit that sources under a 1977 J20 pickup. If you source a 1976/77 J10 it comes up with the same box you get for a 69 impala wich is the same as the part # I put above but has a slightly smaller piston.

So do most people get a rebuilt steering gear from NAPA instead of pulling it from a yard? What is the # for the most commonly used gear for the Saginaw conversion?
Thanks

Don't know if this will help but I used a Carquest/Cardone box #27-6537.

the autozone part number is #6529 if that helps any

NAPA has them, but where in the F am I gonna find a gearbox from a 69 Impala in a junkyard as my core?
