No special tool, I simply used a very small, long flathead. It was a combination of one hand working the tool, the other holding the connector and pulling the wire with my teeth lmao.
Precision screwdriver, aka Jeweler's Screwdriver.

thanks for this thread!

I was able to buy the connector and pins, I crimped the pins directly on to the harness that came with the radio and it all works mostly great. the only issue is an audible pop from the speakers when I turn off the vehicle. i was thinking that may because I grounded the radio using the ring terminal it came with, instead of grounding through the harness. I may crimp on a ground pin and see if that fixes it.

I was also able to squeeze in some wires to install a dash cam into the crimps for the radio.

next up is 3d printing a pocket for a cell phone in place of the ash tray. Going to put a USB C connector at the bottom of that pocket, so when my wife slides her phone in it just connects to the android auto.

I do have a question though...

where do I find part numbers for harness connectors? If I find the part numbers for the harness down under the seat it will be easy to install an aftermarket amp too.

From back in post #1: How To Find A Companion Connector - Electrical/Stereo/Nakamichi - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/how-to-find-a-companion-connector-electrical-stereo-nakamichi.1054926/

@PabloCruise, thank you for all that you did. I put together my harness and worked on the first attempt! Thank you.

Now can I tap into your knowledge more? My driver speaker is still dead (was dead before changing head unit). Is the pins going into the Nak amp the same? I'm going to try to chase where the dead spot is.

Also, is there a Y out there for the 2 antenna into one for the head unit?

Thank you again

In my case, it appears to be a broken wire in the rubber boot between the door and body.

I used this

I wouldn't be surprised by a broken wire in that area. I know there was some work completed in this door prior to my purchase (window motor had to be reset)
Yeah mine was broken and speaker kept cutting out. Also the power window switch stopped working at times. Very likely the culprit, but luckily is an easy fix.

Okay, so I am having a weird issue here. Back in 2020 I put in an older Alpine stereo (INE-W960) and it has worked as expected. I wanted to upgrade to an Alpine with CarPlay so I found a new-old-stock stereo (iLX-207)

The harness is exactly the same on both stereos. Same colors, same wire locations, same everything. So when I fired it up, it works. Stereo comes on, antenna comes on, cool.

Well, the antenna on the old stereo worked as the OEM unit in that it would only raise the antenna when you were on AM/FM radio. This new stereo raises the antenna when there is power. I COULD still move the antenna up and down with the dash button. I said COULD because recently, the antenna switch stopped working. When I turn the stereo on, the antenna relay clicks and raises up but now the dash button won't lower it. I can hear the relay click when I try and raise it (already fully raised) but when I attempt to lower it, nothing.

Really not sure what to do here... On my harness, BLUE is connected to pin 5 (ANT) and BLUE/WHITE is connected to pin 14 (AMP+)

Everything I am reading online on other forums points to stereo manufacturers forgoing the power antenna controls. I think they include the wire to turn on the antenna and that's it. They no longer account for power antennas when switching inputs. It's either on with the stereo, or off. Really annoying but I guess that's a trade-off with newer stereos. Still don't know why my power antenna switch on the dash isn't lowering the antenna.

Dear Pablo
Thanks for all the info and hard work here. Would you or anyone else on here be willing to sell and ship pre made harness with the male connector? Trying to save myself some time. Super busy with 3 babies over here.

I have a 99 LX470 with nakamichi 6 CD changer and am about to upgrade the unit to the nakamichi NA6605 Apple CarPlay unit.

If not, no worries. I then have a question. Was it confirmed on here that instead of going with the Lexus Toyota male connector 22 pin I can instead use the corsa 22 pin connect let and the terminals that come with it to make a new harness? This one? 6098-0903 - Yazaki | 050U-22P-1 - Corsa Technic | 22-Way Kit - https://www.corsa-technic.com/item.php?vc=1&cfrom=item&cart_id=497177&item_id=1683&msg=Item+Added+to+Cart

It would save me $50-150 compared to buying connector and terminals and wires from Lexus as I have to have it shipped to Toronto, Canada and shipping is another $30 usd or so and well the terminals/ wires are expensive as you know from Lexus/ Toyota.

Thank you Pablo and everyone else!

Cover my costs, and I might be willing…

Hey jLB. Yes please let me know what you were thinking for the costs. Also, I read your posts earlier about the two diversity antenna wires, so we do have to use the two wires and use a y to put then one into the new unit? I had read many other posts that stated to only put in the large of the two antenna wires into new unit and all would be fine. Your’s is the first one that stated otherwise. Do both ways work or best to use your route? Thank you!

I have the wires, clipped them from a prius. Clipped enough to make 4 harnesses when I made mine. Send me a PM and we can see if we can work something out

Hi. Thx. Before I PM do you have a harness already or the supplies: 22 pin connector to make a harness and send? Otherwise the wires I can also get if I end up having to put together harness myself and just getting supplies myself. Just trying to save time, if possible, by not having to assemble harness to a new male 22pin connector. Thank you!

I would end up ordering the 22 pin connector, placing the pins with connectors so that you can just use a heat gun and connect to your new aftermarket unit

How did you remove them from the Prius connector? I have some from another Toyota (Tundra maybe?) that look to be right but I can’t get them out of the harness. It’s too tight for any tool I’ve tried yet. I’d be happy to start making some of these for cost if I can figure out how to get the pins out!

Here's a decent video. I believe I used a 1.5mm flathead

99 LX 470 with Nakamichi stereo. I swapped the head unit as well as bypassed the amp, but I still have engine whine. I noticed on the harness my yellow/constant wire doesn’t work with the white/pin one wire. It does Turn on when I use pin2/white with the yellow/constant wire. Could this be my issue?

Are you talking about the connection at the head unit?
