My shameless plug for Bosch icon wipers!

If they ever invent a true, lifetime coating, like rainx, it will be a goldmine, I love how rainx works, just hate applying it every month or so. Might have to check out those Bosch wipers.

I apply it once and then use rain x wiper fluid. workd awesome.

You look close to Cottonwood Rd. Yes?

At the Trout House for Eve dinner? Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm That Hazel Nut glazed Salmon is soooo good!

Owl's Nest for drinks?

O and those wipers are cool as Sh!t to.

The same as the Avalon, and German imports correct?

Yeah, the Florida sun is pretty intense.

Still, I think I'm going to give these blades a shot... worst case the die out as quickly as the regulars, best case they last longer.

Increasingly intense as one drives further South to Palm Beach >, where it becomes a sub-tropical climate zone. ps, rig looks great, nice color.

LX,
Pretty cool idea. I guess if I could drive 70+ it would work for me but alas I haven't regeared yet.

There is a coating that we bond to Beechjet windshields that lasts for ~150 flight hours. That could potentially last many months to year on a car. Only trouble is it needs very large heat mats to cure to the windshield. Off the top of my head I don't recall what material the windshields are mfg. from, glass or plastics. I'd have to look into it on Wed when I go back to work.

Most likely plastic. Acrylic is the most common.

Where does one source silicone wiper blades? Never seen them for sale.

I am visiting in FL, Has been raining for days. My Rain-X coat is a bit old. Should have re-done it before I left. :frown:

Yes, although I tried the Bosch blades out in the tornado warning today and they are a big improvement. My only gripe is that they create a low pressure zone on the "top" side of the blade so when the USDS blade reaches its vertical position it "sucks" rain back towards the center of the windshield with rain-x.... kinda annoying but not bad.

Raven, rain-x or aquapel is a must here :D

Cut a potato in half and rub it on the windshield, works as a substitute.

I am going to have to give that aquapel a try,

realy? who comes up with these things.

I can't even remember the name of my wipers it has been so long since I replaced them. It must be 5 or 6 years now. They were tripple edged silicone impregnated. They still work like they were new! Pretty amazing. Next time I get wipers I am going to want to get them longer though.

I also use some kind of repellent. You spray it on in the rain or before you wash your car and that's it. No rubbin'. Stuff works great. I also used to use the rain-x wiper fluid but I have switched to distilled water in South Texas.

RT,

Silblade is the vendor. The NAPA's and a few other auto parts stores in NY sell them. Expedition Exchange also sells them but I'm certain there are better sources in GA than mail order. Prolly email them and they can point you in the right direction.

There are a few of our aircraft that still use glass and glass/plastic windshields. Comes with the territory of GA aircraft and RAC isn't as advanced in some areas as they's like people to believe. Composites yes, sub systems not so much.

I am going to have to disagree with you on this one. I tried the Icon blades on my GMC and they are the worst wiper I have ever seen. Not good in the rain, terrible in the wind, and worthless in the snow. My .02 :)

I've used a Jamak (makers of triple edge) single beam blade on my wife's tacoma:

this was the biggest POS blade I've used (and I've used a lot)...I still like the idea of a single beam blade and maybe Bosch makes a better one?

I normally love the toyota blades, but I've had them ice up really quickly and stop working in the worst of weather here in Denver. The single beam looks like a good way to remedy that issue. I'm going to give it another try with the Bosch.

I noticed there was an "a" and "b" part number associated with each size...is this for left and right or does it mean something else?

Thanks!

Kumar

"a" is usually driver side. I think the LC is just "18a" for both driver and passenger. Also 17 will work on the rear. Some folks have run a 19a on the driver side. See prior posts.

This sounds like a good plan.
Driver side - 19 in
Passenger - 18 in
Rear - 17 in

I saw a lot of snow and slush last week and it was nice to not have metal brackets that would get ice build up in there.
They worked great.

Unfortunately that is my experience too. The jury is still out, but after six months I would not buy another pair. I will probably try the
Silblade Winterblade next, though Silblade either makes or distributes a version of the Icon. I've had problems with wiper chatter since they were new and in wet snow the wipers ride up and over the piles they make instead of pushing off the windshield.
