I just found this thread, read through the whole thing and I'm impressed beyond belief.
You did an outstanding job on this project and given me a well documented template for the day I take on a similar task. I keep fantasizing about doing something similar and this thread has inspired along with scaring the crap out of me.

iv read through this several times (and by that i mean iv gone through looking @ the pictures WISHING i could build one... im taking a summer welding class @ the community college and THIS thread is a BIG motivating factor behind that)

I have been missing out on garage time for the cruiser/trailer. I am building a crib for the kiddo, and I have been into making custom knives lately... all of which are digging into me finishing the kitchen and drawer system. :hill:

First off I hear a CONGRATS is in order. Does this mean some mods for the youngblood to fit when the kid gets a bit bigger ? HE HE. If it does I would love to help and learn bout what you learned putting the rig together, she looks awesome. I'm new to the site and did a quick hour an half scan through all your posts - WOW ! My pops and I had a friend guide us through replbuilding a jet ski trailer and she's still mad at the burn marks in the driveway. Got to get my pressure washer going to clean off the drive. Hope the kid enjoys wheeling, the rig looks awesome - I have many questions - would buy ya lunch to talk over decisions if yaou can.

McMaster.com sells Suspa brand ones. I think that's what Drew used.

Yeah, I used 150# from McMaster... I should have gone a bit beefier, I have to swap them out. I used their calculator too, not sure what happened. I would bump up to 200ish pounds per side... but my lid is heavy with everything on it. Steel lid, frame, crossbars, RTT.

The trailer I got from Mike came with 90# springs, two for each side..but with a roof top tent and 4 bike racks on top of the alum lid... it is really heavy, so I swap them for 250# springs that's a total of 1,000 #'s.
I thought it would be over kill but I just finish installing them and they are just the ticket for my application.

You convinced me to swap out my shocks for something beefier. I need the lid to stay open fully loaded up... right now it doesn't. It is easy to lift but doesn't hold up.

Where did you get that junction box? I have almost all of the materials for the guts of the trailer! Looking to have most of it installed next week. We'll see how that goes!

I got my steel from a friend in my local club, Rising Sun here in Colorado. They cut it to size for me, it was a huge help. EPOC, in Longmont CO is the name of their company. They do amazing work.
I got the junction box off ebay. It was like 10 bucks and it is a nice little unit.
No CM09 this year. My wife and I are expecting our first baby the last week of April!
Sweet I'll have to check them out. My buddy owns "Rose Steel" in Lafayette but EPOC is much closer. Considering I work in south Longmont.
Hey Drew, it was great chatting with you at breakfast today. Can't wait to see this trailer in person. Are you gonna drag it to the Rising Sun meeting on the 4th?
