Take your initial guess and double it, then if you can add another 20% you'll be close to what you might actually spend. I did mine on a budget but I haven't ever added it all up yet, still working on the thing.

Hey Drew, how is that 3M rubberizing stuff you used on the underside holding up? I am thinking about using it on the underside of my M-416 tub and my fenders. Also, where did you pick it up at.

Thanks, Patrck.

Patrick- It is holding up fine. Actually it is really good stuff! I bought it at NAPA, one can is about 5 bucks per can, and they have another one that is nearly 20 bucks a can... I went with the cheaper, but the other allows you to top coat it with paint.

Honestly, I thought I was cutting corners with this product but it is holding up very well with lots of dirt/ gravel roads already behind it!

That's good to know. I've got to do the same to my AT one of these days.

I guess in you your application, as well as mine, there is no need for a top coat. It looks like you applied it directly to the bare metal, with no primer. Did you do anything to prep the metal?

wiped it down with acetone and sprayed. Follow the directions on the can, make sure your temps are good.

Drew,

I have a couple of questions about your electrical wiring:

1) did you run the batteries in parallel or in series?

2) what is the purpose of the junction box? Can you post some pics of how this is wired together?

Thanks man, I hope my trailer will be finished this winter. I want to make a trip to MOAB next year, If you're going we definitly need to meet up!

1. I ran the batteries in parallel. + to + and - to -

2. The junction box does just what it says. It allows you to have a common point where all your wiring comes together. Lets say you tie your left turn signals onto one of the terminals, then every wire you attach to that post will fire when ever the left turn signal on the rig fires. Think about it, your rear turn signal would fire, but you could add any number of other left turn signals (LEDs or aux signals, side markers) and have a common point to ground them and trouble shoot any one light. Like my reverse lights come on when I am in reverse in the rig... obviously, but my rear back up lights/camp set up lights also come one whenever I am in reverse to aid is seeing rearward.

I like neat and clean wiring that is EASY to figure out, I am a big fan of KISS. :)

Thats kind of what I figured. I just wanted to clarify exactly what other electrical components you were powering through the junction box.

It would make running the lights a little easier as well because you wouldn't have to split the brown wire from one side to run to the other side of the trailer. A totally different brown wire could be dedicated to run from the junction box to that particular light (on both sides).

I managed to save a few pics of our first camp out after the camera melt down. One for color two for a good trailer shot. Thanks for all the kind words, next winter I will build up the kitchen and cargo drawers as well as all the other little things that need to get done on it, but for now, we are really enjoying all the hard work when we get to get out camping.

Dude,
I'm still reading through the thread (loss of words to compliment your work), but when I came to this I had to stop and ask,

Is that Timber Creek campground near Grand Lake? My wife and I have camped there for years. I have been on every single hiking trail in RMNP. :D

Last year when we went, the forest devastation was unbelievable. If a fire breaks out there, it will be unstoppable. Anyway back to reading the rest of the thread...

Yup, it is going to go big, and this was in the Indian Peaks National Forrest... but yes, it is up in Grand county. Sad, it is all dead.

Thanks for the nice words.

the deeper i go on this forum the more impressed i get.

my hat is off to you.

3 questions,

1) roughly how many hours would you say you have into it?

2) roughly how much money?

3) was it worth all the time and money?

Answers:

1. Too many

2. Too much

3. Yes

:D

To answer your question seriously:

100's of hours literally, not just fabbing stuff up but also thinking through the design at all hours! :D Every weekend for the better part of one year. 10-12 hours each saturday.

Cost: I will keep that one to myself, so if I ever decide to sell it, I won't have that number coming back to bite me in the bottom.

Yes, it is worth it, we love the trailer and it works just great!
