WOOOW!!!

This is like the sweetest build i ever seen!:clap:

Great craftmanship, and bright ideas.

An inspiration to us all. Thanks.

Well, here we are in the midst of another amazing wheeling season in Colorado's high country and the trailer is going to get a months worth of work, and updates. I just had my first child last month a little BOY! and I am a proud Dad for sure. That said I have had my wheelin' time drastically cut down this summer to help out my lovely wife and hang out with my boy in general.

So... I am finding time to update and finish a few area's on the trailer. I have two big trips planned for this summer with my club Rising Sun 4x4 and both will have a few days of camping and wheelin'

Things I need to go back and address:Fix my tailgate, my rigging lines failed...
Fix my taillights which both shattered when the tailgate cables failed :(
I need to lube my piano hinges, trying a dry lube for bike chains.
Install my Lock-n-Roll hitch
Install more powerful gas lift shocks

New things to add or complete:
Finish the electical system, aux power, charger and switch panel
Add LED turn signals/Marker lights
Add LED Camp light (probably under the tent when deployed for hanging out near the trailer.
Add LED interior lights to find crap at night ;)
Add LED lights to Tent, hardmount
Begin install on the on board water system, pump, and plumbing, finish shower install and prepare for Hot water heater.
Add some cool stickers ;)

The 40 is getting a wave of mods as well... might as well use the time at home better than I am, right!? :Ds

This is what my tailgate cables looked like when they were working (I learned the hard way that you need to properly swedge (sp?) the cables) I used a punch and hammer and it worked for a little while (one season) but now I am going to use cable saddles to fasten them tight.

Worst part is they broke seperately and I kept using just the one. Then I loaded up and action packer on the tailgate and it all came loose... breaking out BOTH the taillight lenses.

The good the bad and the ugly...

Wow does that STINK!!

Murphys Law never takes a vacation day....:bang:

trailer looks great rezarf, sucks about the cable, maybe if you strip the plastic from the end.

Crazy... I didn't realize that! :D

Congaratulations!!!

Drew, what a thread & what a trailer - job on for me in the next 'wheneverIcan' ;-) I am exactly where you were when you started except that I have kids - 4 of them!!! - hence the need for a trailer. And yes, it may be where they are going when they misbehave!!! ;-)

My buddy is a ace fabricator who has helped me fab up a few bits & bobs for my 80 - I must put up a thread on that sometime... - so he will be giving me plenty of welding lessons before I get going.

I hope all is well with your family & you get to enjoy the rig soonest.

Cheers
Gavlad

PS I mean't to ask you - did you consider a braking system for the trailer & if not, why?

Thanks Gavlad!

I appreciate your kind words... I am sure i have lot to learn from you in the kid raising arena! 4... wow!

As for brakes, don't really need them... yet. My cruiser brakes are in good working order and my trailer hovers around 1000lbs wet. Maybe they will get added later, but for now, I just watch my distance on the road and use my gears off road a bit more than when I am unhitched.

Go for it, it is a great time building one of these!

Drew
