Are any of you guys running a steering bump tube with an o ring on the pump side of the hose attached in the photo are something similar?

I ask because I started my cruiser for the first time for a while and noticed that the power steering fluid was leaking out. Originally I thought it was the hose where the fitting was crimped onto the soft line.

I went to the shop where I had the hose made and showed a video to the individual behind the counter and he believes I need the bump tube because it’s not getting a good seal because of the fitting is flared.
Attached is a photo of my pump and hose.

So I’m not necessarily buying one off the internet just wanting to know if that’s something others are running on there’s.
The shop I had my hose made referred me to another shop a few miles from them. However the shop is closed on Friday and I plan on stopping by tomorrow. I just don’t want to buy something that isn’t needed. Thanks

Idk, never used one. I've never had a problem with the h/p hose flared end. Is it leaking at the inverted flare or behind the fitting and the pump? There might be an O ring on the back side of the inverted fitting. If you use the fitting you referenced you'll have to change the fitting on the end of your hose to female.

I believe there are two styles of pumps just like two styles of boxes. O-ring or flare connections. I assume you verified that the pump you have is for a flared pressure hose and not an oring hose? (From the pic I can't see inside the connection on the back of the pump.)

Honestly I’m not sure exactly where it’s leaking. I was filming the engine running and happened to check to make sure the power steering belt was running and noticed it was leaking.
I shut the engine off right afterwards because I didn’t want to burn out the steering pump.

Thanks! I can’t remember if my dad had the pump already or if I had bought it. Either way it’s been awhile so not sure.
I have a camera that I bought last year to attach to my iPhone so I’ll take a closer look to verify.

Its hard tell, but it looks good. I think theres an O ring behind that fitting. Is there any imperfections on the hose fitting.

That is just a flare so you should not need anything but the flared tube to the fitting. I think @pb4lugo means a seal or oring behind the fitting the line runs into. I just looked at mine and there is no way to tell without attempting to unscrew the fitting.
The pumps are so cheap with a core it just is not worth rebuilding them - or if you get one from the big 3 they are guaranteed for life. I have had to swap a few with Vatozone. They always are surprised when I bring something in that lasted three or six years and I have a receipt.

I think the inverted flare fitting on the pump unscrews and there is an O ring that could be leaking or the h/p line fitting was not tight causing a leak.

So I stopped at the shop that was closed on Friday and they believe it was not crimped properly. Also the hose is hydraulic and not a power steering hose.
That being said I’m probably will run down to summit racing tomorrow and see what’s available.

If you guys could post some pictures of your hoses that would be great. My steering box is a cardone 27-6529.
I listed a part number on herr somewhere for a jeep pressure hose. It is sitting in the shop now. Same one I used on the Mule build. Lemme dig it up.
