Why am I craving a 50/50 bar right now?

Not a bad looking project. From the pics the body looks good

We are a crazy bunch, who else but an avid 40 lover would do such thing. I may complain to my wife about going to the store to get a loaf of bread but will drive to who knows where for an FJ40.
Have fun with your restoration.
Gary

Looks fairly unmolested...nice! What's with the black paint along the top of the tub where it meets the top and doors?

Glad to see this cruiser get a new home. Was sorry to hear the PO wasn't going to be able to keep and restore with all the family history it had. But he should be glad it will get restored instead of parted out. It appears to be a pretty rust free southwest cruiser:cheers:

TRUTH

Great looking project. Good luck.

Thanks again for buying, was a pleasure and would gladly do business with you in the future

Did you make it home safe?

Also, to the comments about the various items:
Suspension and drivetrain were 100% stock minus a shackle lift my dad put on it sometime in the late 80's or early 90's.

The black spray was something put on it by the guy who "bought" the rig from my dad about 7 years ago, I have no idea what the guys idea was.

Sadly the same guy who sprayed on that black crap gutted the electrical and then rigged it up horribly so he'll have his work cut out for him there.

The engine and drivetrain are probably way behind on maintenance, I'm sure he'll run into at least a few problems but the body was almost straight minus one or two problem spots and the hood.

Good luck on the build, looking forward to seeing what you do with my family's old rig.

Looks like a solid build to start from...

PS... It's a 68... Tail lights give it away...

mine is the same way. it has small tail lights and round front turn signals. the build date is june 68 but it is titled a 69

Sorry guys... I will be starting on it sooooon!!!! Had a small delay. Buying a new house. House has a 40x70 shop with 2 floors. 5600sq ft of play space!!! Of course the cruisers will take up most of it. Can't wait to get started. Later guys!!! Oh, by the way I did put a new battery in it. I have even taken it down the street just for fun. It starts right up every time. I also started collecting a few misc parts for it and started doing some rewiring.

My monitor must be bad because I see a faded red cruiser.:meh:

It looks faded red, I'll have to find my old scans from when I was planning on a build thread. It used to be my dad's rig when I was young. It is a nice burnt-orange but the paint was so neglected that you just can't tell anymore. Apparently it was originally the factory cream color anyway judging by the underside of the hood.

Ok folks... I'm back at it again. New belts, fluids, spark plugs, MSD ignition coil, fuel filter, complete re-wire...master electrician style...

Oh and new socks and shoes heeheeheeeee

I'm sorry. I was wrong. It's been so long since I have been on here, I didn't realize this was the new build thread i had made for the FJ40. I already had created it. FYI. Not sure of the color I'm going with on it yet. Not so sure about the cream color anymore.
