I've been wanting to get a Troopy for a long time now. Their biggest draw is the massive amount of storage in the cargo area. I don't like leaving my expensive mountain bikes on the hitch carrier during the work day thinking someone could easily steal them. I've tried to make Betty White (HZJ80) work with the installation of a slideout rear drawer, but I hated removing the front wheel to do it. Pics of the 80 with my drawer setup.

So, I recently sold my soft top HZJ73 and decided to buy a Troopy from @joekatana. That was the plan until I saw @andeww selling a 1993 GCC spec FZJ75 in the classifieds. So, I jumped on it and worked with Andrew on a plan to get it back to Austin.

My friend @bkcruiser (Bill) volunteered to drive it back from SoCal since he was in the area and had time to do it.

A couple of days later and a gallon of oil (she's sipping oil) Bill made it back to Austin with zero issues (other than oil consumption).

Yes, Bill has his own stickers now.

She's a little rough, but I'll make it work. The engine is now approaching 500k kilometers and it is smooth as heck. If it dies, I'll swap in a diesel. If that ever happens.

My shipment from Partsouq came in and I swapped in a new driver side window regulator and window runs. Nice quick job and very satisfying to get it done. I noticed that there was an electric actuator and wires in there. Hmm.

I forgot to mention in the first post but this truck was originally brought in by @Honger from Oman. I know there are several Omani trucks in here.

The truck had a stutter at take off which was probably due to a bad accelerator pump. Andrew had bought a brand new Aisin carb but hadn't installed it. So tonight I decided to put swap it in along with a new spacer and gaskets.

Looks awesome Dave, I will swing by to check this thing out. Any chance you're running up to AJ's Saturday morning?

I'll be out of town for Easter.

That is easily the nicest "as-is" truck I've pulled out of Oman yet. Was blown away by the body condition. I remember being quite worried that with the km's on the odometer the engine would have a problem. Was blown away to see 185 across all cylinders. It had me thinking about selling mine and starting over.

The new Aisin carb must have that thing purring.
