Got it today. Plan is to spray frame with cosmoline and protect KDSS unit from rust as well (marine grease). Anything else I should do to get it prepped for long and happy life?

Questions to all:
1. What oil comes from a factory? Does it make sense to replace after 2-3k miles?
2. Any special tools or gizmos for oil changes? I've seen aftermarket oil cups with drains on youtube but can't find any for sale. Any suggestions or not needed?
3. What CarPlay unit is the best for 570?

Congrats! I know many people dislike the spindle but I think new LXs look awesome.

New oil filters come with the tool to drain the housing, and as long as you use it correctly (fit the old oring on the tool before inserting) it works great, doesn’t make a mess, and you just toss the tool with the old filter instead of having to clean anything.

Consider upgrading to the metal Venza filter cap.. it is written about in this section. Cheap and much higher quality.

I’d just go to 5k, knowing our oil is good for 10k with “non-severe” use. From here out just do it every 5 which is very easy to keep track of, and it’ll have a long healthy life.

Buy a handful of oil drain gaskets with your filters.. super cheap and having extras on hand will never hurt.

There is an AHC hydraulic line that is prone to rust in places with heavy salt.. that could be worth looking into. Waaayyy less common of a problem than rusted KDSS bodies on landcruisers though.

Katit,

Fantastic looking 570!

Very curious to see where this ends up. Your 100 thread is one of my favorites- I just refinished my LS430 steering wheel the same exact way.
Great color combo too.

Ok, nothing to protect then, even better :) I am familiar with AHC from my 470, so it's good. I just read this forum and see mentioning of KDSS rusting and thought it's universal
Attached below is a general description of the LX570 version of AHC which may be of interest. It is more elaborate than the previous LC100/LX470 version.

The new e-KDSS on LC300 is a different story.

Do you spray cosmoline anywhere in the engine bay?
I really not going to go crazy. I remember how frame on my 470 was rusting, mostly seams. Will be applying strategically, don’t want sticky mess everywhere either.

Just checked frame no wonder it rusts. Welds have some amber looking stuff, just like when I MIG weld something. So, paint is not adhering to this. I see bare metal spots on those seams. They should clean frame somehow after welding but guess it’s too expensive

Wait what? Your 570 has unpainted spots on the frame? Was it built by GM or Ford?

My 22 GX has same amber looking edges. Looks like rust!

Does cosmoline dry as a sticky surface?

It’s not rust. Yet. It’s flux or whatever they call stuff forming after welding. Which I assume oily and repels paint

Cosmoline not sticky. But it’s wax and I still don’t like to touch it if I don’t have to. Basically I want to keep it away from places I know won’t rust. Cleaning couple surplus guns was enough experience :)

How does the driving experience compare? I assume it's a lot quieter than the 100, but maybe the small sidewall makes it ride harsher?

Congrats and nice choice. Brand new does it lean to the drivers side?

I am only getting used to it. It is definitely not harsher. If we talk strictly comfort - it is better IMO. Quiet, much better interior(for me). And definitely better ride. Does not feel as "compact" as 100, not as good visibility especially at parkings. However, cameras around makes me better at parking than I was with 470.

Not sure. Is that something common?

What I noticed and really annoys me is HUD. Right edge is for some reason cutting off. I feel like I have to lean my head to the left to see it better. And I don't see any adjustments, only Up/Down and brightness

Yes, according to me it is but im just doing more research is all. I you post a rear picture parked in Normal height on level ground its pretty obvious.
I would be willing to bet that it is leaning to the left. Mostly all that i see on the road lean to the drivers.

It's improving as I drive. 5.5 now!!!!

Half way there! Keep up the good work :).
