Hi Legends,
Greeting from New Zealand, Im 3D designer with 18 years experience in the field of design and fabrication
Finally I found my Landcruiser 78 Troopy to design and build up my dream planet overlander,
I started to 3D scan the Troopy wagon and product design my needs on it inside Autodesk Inventor software and will inform you about my progress,
So far the 3D scan finished, initial cabinet layout designed and I will finalize the components needs,
Then 3D detail design the aluminum cabinetry to start its laser cutting/folding and welding then assemble our new tiny house on the wheels of the legendary LC78 Troopy
(Cross finger for my build and update you about my progress here)

Cheers
Amir

Mate that's so nice! I was actually listening to a youtube video yesterday saying pitch tent had done something similar. I wish I had Autodesk to do something like that

Yes saw them before, nice fold designs on the cabinet, mine will be almost similar fold concept but with different layout more appropriate for long overlanding...
Quick pitch Australia did this cabinet with Andrew.
There is something important there.
I think it was better to use Aluminum rivets on Alimunum cabinetry instead of stainless steel rivets mentioned by Andrew,
Mainly to avoid galvanic corrosion between Ali and SS in the future of the cabinet.
Around the fasteners area this could happen to me.

But at the end because the car is moving alot for sure SS rivets are more stronger and powder coated cabinet is very durable anyway,
my guess is this ALI cabinet system is much much less noisy on the road by different temperature condition and much lighter than the ply wood cabinets.

I am with you if you're gonna use Aluminum then your need Aluminum Rivet. The powder coating is nice too

@AmirTroopyNZ would you be willing to share your 3D scan outputs? This would be very useful for many people.
Yes I remember even myself long time ago trying to find a proper 3D scan of a Troopy, but no luck at all,
I think I will be the only first one to share this for all the Troopy fans, so enjoy it guys ;)

Here is a link to download it:

I separated my scan into two .STL files, LH and RH side to ease up any future design,
both files aligned properly and will be opened in a same global XYZ axis,

Cheers guys 🍻

This is very cool thanks @AmirTroopyNZ .

I loaded them into blender and the align very well. Have you ground-truthed the measurements (scale)? They look correct just want to be sure.

An update on my build,
The AluCab Hercules roof conversion arrived and installed it myself on the Troopy,
I would say is not really hard install and any average DIY tool handler could do it himself neatly,
Main thing is lifting it, either 4 friends help or a forklift will needed to install,
Im happy with the quality and design of the roof conversion kit and have to say Alucab did a good job for this useful kit which is fitting and matching on the body very well,
I have detailed all the needs for this kit installation on our website by below link,

Amir I like your 3D scan - very cool

Hows this, , , , I chopped the AluCab Hercules pop top tent off my Troopy (it was just too fugly for me) and replaced it with the Alu-Innovations Kronos Pop top tent instead. PM me if you want some pics.
Ive also started building the interior drawers, cupboards, fridge slides etc
dont want to hijack your thread but checkout progress so far Builds - A Re-Build of 2004 78 Series Troopy 1HD FTE - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/a-re-build-of-2004-78-series-troopy-1hd-fte.1282392/

Greeting all, finally my Aluminum cabinet is ready and fitted perfectly in the Troopy,
I made a full detail post with some more videos on our website for anyone interested to get more info,
Also excited to announce that this Troopy Aluminum kit set could be flat packed and sea freighted to your address and easy to fit in a day just by rivet fixing,
If you needed such a cabinet you can send me an email on our website in below link you can have all the details too:
