Wow, it sure is pretty. There a lot of things I like about ICON, and a few I don't, but they do very beautiful work that's for sure.

First off, very nice rig! I can't believe some of you guys have never heard of ICON. Very nice work at a very expensive price...something like 150K? I would have to win the lottery to afford that, if I had that kind of $ I could buy 5 very nice original cruisers ;) BUT that is me. I am glad someone can afford these great works of art, because they are something to drool over :bounce: I didn't know they offered a hardtop or was that something you had to request extra? Its also nice they offer a diesel motor and old school steelies w/caps if you want them  Since I live in the PNW as well I hope I can get a closer look of your killer rig someday. Congrats!

There is some true craftsmanship in that ride - much more than just "replication". Call me simple, but I think my favorite part (among many) is the storage integrated into the tailgate. I've been scratchin my arse over a solid, lockable storage solution forever - just found it! Thanks for sharing your Icon, And your appreciation for the Toyota FJ40. Enjoy it.

SOR has been selling ones like them for years...Check out the Vendor section on this forum, might find other cool stuff for your rig ;)

Cool - thank you. I'm All Over the vendors here, just usually stick to the "smaller" guys with the personal touch. I'll Check out $OR for that one though.

Thanks again,
Jason

Rising Sun hosts Cruise Moab every year...here is a link to 2011 (already passed) but you should bring it to CM 2012.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/tlca-sanctioned-events/449376-2011-cruise-moab.html

Cool - I'll check it out.

I've been keeping mental notes on people & groups,... that put on/participate in trips I'd like to do. Kurt Williams, from Cruiser Outfitters, is a person I planned on contacting at some point, too.

Thanks again for the info & link.

Cheers!

What a build! Impressive weld quality...I really like the tire carrier bumpers on the Icons. I can't find 'em on their main website...so I'm wondering if they only sell them with the Icon ? ?

Thanks Jeff.

Re: the rear bumper - per the vid I posted above,... they've installed them on non-ICON vehicles,.... so I assumed they're for sale, in some manner.

I'd just call TLC & ask - They're great folks who'd probably be happy to speak with you.

Hardtop is an option. For me, & where I live - it was a must. They've done a number of them already - close to half dozen.

Would love to meet up! Hope to spend alot of time in Eastern & Central Washington - lots of great country. Perhaps you could show me some of your favorite trails & areas?

Look forward to meeting you!

Thanks Jason!

Looks like you found a vendor for the lockable tailgate - Cool! That's one of the things which makes a site like this great!

I love the Toyota FJ40s (the 55s & 60 series too)! In fact, prior to ordering the ICON, I had been looking at some restored 40s to purchase. After some consideration, I decided to go with an ICON instead. However, there's one I kind of wish I'd bought. I may still buy an original in the future.

Cheers!

Congrats on a beautiful machine. How does the suspension compare to the original leaf springs in terms of flex and travel? I assume the ride quality is also much better.

Thanks - I haven't taken delivery yet,... so can't say.

Not surprisingly, Jonathan Ward has said there's a huge difference.

I know it's his business to say that - But I believe him.

Will know soon enough!

First off, great pics and I love seeing all the details of the build. TLC sure makes an amazing ICON and I wish Toyota had gone this direction instead of the FJC.

I was curious about the VIN panel in this shot:

.

It just may get a new one.....

Continued below,...

JW told me years ago I was way to OCD when he seen nylon washers under all the exterior Bolts.

Seeing and touching one in person, well it brings everything together on the detail, quality, hours, man power and brain damage behind the R&D that goes into one, there are no excuses.

Cheers to you and your new ride. Great color BTW.
