Beautiful 60! hard work definitely pays off...
Oh don't get me wrong. I love my mountains. The mountains on the mainland are amazing. What I meant to say is there is literally nothing like a tropical forest. And unless you're in the tropics you won't get to experience it.

Wow! - I see the '96 plenty over in the 80's & had thought the 60 was a root beer colored gasser.
Was I ever surprised!! (I like 60's - but yours is the 1st one I ENVY!!!)
Hat off to the 2 of you, nice seeing a refreshed rig someone didn't have to spend a small fortune on.
The Hawaiian backdrop ( & Jenn, you're far from a punch in the eye either
) --all the pics make for threads that deliver from both of you!
You may be newer to mechanical work but end result passes for more experience, and now you get the enviable task of easing around the island in a headturner of a 60 -- more envy from me there.
One of you is handy with the camera too - never been there but your shots make me rethink that.

It is a bit different then the grain on the dash, but I am happy with it.

I think some stock wheels painted Cygnus white might match a little better. The aluminum looks a little out of place. Or maybe they just need to be polished.
Yes, it's so clean and I love the color. Aloha Jen looks great too.
I think the wheels are OK. Stock steelies might be best, white spokes good too.

Speaking of wheels, do folks usually drive with it tilted up, down, mid? @Aloha Jen I noticed yours is tilted up...do people tend to leave them set? Or adjust them every time they get in and out? I leave mine set and down.

Maybe it's a "cushy 80 series thing" - but I like the old Alcoa look. They're period correct & were the 'King Pimp' of aftermarket wheels in the 1980's.
My Dad used to drive a older 454 Chevy 4x4 truck he resprayed & ran Alcoas on, and I always found them cool lookin'.
As it sits that 60 is a beauty, but to each their own - I wouldn't change a thing, even the fresh chrome bumper means I wouldn't change out for a winch bumper.
Nicest refreshed & affordable 60 I've seen in awhile. But that's me.

I wasn't trying to be mean...sorry if I offended anyone! It's not like they designed the wheels themselves...
But like you said, I see them at home on an older Chevy...with 33x12.50 tires, which I don't typically like on a 60 series. I'm a sucker for the tall skinny pizza cutters and steel wheels.
I will say that green color is cool, never seen that shade before. Also, I like the rock guards on the headlights!

Unfortunately, the aluminum wheels will not polish up anymore then what you see. They were an add on from the previous owner we inherited. They are on the top of my cosmetic fix list, and have been for a couple months. We looked into getting new OEM ones from Beno, but the shipping on them to Hawaii was very expensive. So we are on the lookout for some locally....but being on a small island with very few 60's, we may be waiting a while and those aluminum ones will have to suffice.
No offense taken, OEM wheels were always on the list to get, just trying to find an affordable way to get them to Hawaii or a local Craigslist option to pop up.
Just read your thread from the beginning. Attention to detail is fantastic. Looks great. You mentioned that you live on a small island, are there many opportunities to go wheelin?

Im sure a set will surface sooner or later for it. I imagine it does make it a challenge finding parts on a island.

@Aloha Jen - Flitz ball/Mother's ball & some decent aluminum polish will shine out those Alcoas (unless you see clearcoat like the factory 80 wheels). That & any drill makes short work of all but curbing or serious deep gouging.
I get it, beauty is subjective - but Alcoas are big $$ forged AL wheels, it's really a nice wheel & ties the bumpers & emblems. Esp since you have 'em I'd sooner use the money smarter, def not buy new steelies & pay freight.
Or if you were into trying a different look, that Plastidip thing is big, and it peels off when you're bored of it. Maybe black or silver if you like silver painted steelies.

Get a set of stock steelies and have them powder coated to match the truck. I just picked up a set coated black to put on my white '62 and with the black sliders and front bumper it's gonna look nice. Black would even look good on yours!
