Ken, yes original piece and I did not do the welding. It was also a temp gauge and not an oil gauge.
I have had lots of Cruisers in my days but I have never had the pleasure of getting one with an original lock until these two. Not a mechanical part that will keep the old girl going but very cool nonetheless. :)

Very nice find for sure. I have seen on options lists that talks about the lock but no mention of the style or name brand. So that's a third option for the lock. Spare tire holder, tool box under the seat of a 25 or 40 and the gas can. Wow, learn something new everyday...

Whitey, don't give up. Just when you think they won't sell, you drive by and it's gone. I have had my eye on an all original green one owner 71 FJ40. I'm not a 40 guy anymore but a 71 is the best year for a 40 IMO. Maybe someday...

Here's my Alpha lock in its original intened spot on 097.

Not an rk3 but would love to order some of these. I saw this in a Land Rover magazine...

Replaced the original Koitos with some later ones I had. Put the originals on Sage...for safe keeping since this will be my daily driver..

Those are Good looking tires as well.

The only item missing so far is the grey plastic plug in the passenger door. The choke cable is an after market one but it works. Seats are in OK non original shape but will be replaced with the coral seat material. The seat springs will be beefed up.

Real nice orange/yellow carpet headliner:)

It's amazing how well preserved some of these cruisers are. I'm thinking cover and climate have a lot to do with it. Nothing major body wise and no rust through anywhere. The floors are impeccable. They put some red color tuff paint on the the two footwell areas.

Roof cap is dent free as well.

PO added two wire blocks. I have two new OEM ones coming.

These parts have already come in handy...

Engine was rebuilt just before I got the truck. The rebuild shop had put the later head gasket in and it was leaking. New head gasket installed good as new..

Yeah, seats are in the works as we speak. The seatbelts came in handy because I needed the extra set. Fuel tank is out and the small seep fixed. I would really like to do what you are doing to Goat with keeping it all original, but I can't help it.

It will stay as close to stock as possible but I will be doing/done some things.
Powder coated original wheels
New seats
New Windows seals all around
New front window
Most everything else will remain as stock.

Lots of cleaning and preserving the patina...
It's my daily driver....:)

Time for the quick wash job since I need a new pressure washer:(
