Hello everyone. I originally posted this in the FJ40 series thread but some new friends told me I should also post up here. (Does this mean that my FJ40 is really an FJ25?) Some of my wheeling buddies helped me move my new FJ out of a storage where it had been sitting for nearly three years and into my garage!

As I said earlier, I'm starting from scratch. I can't even change a tire, but I can't wait to get started on my rebuild.

So how do I even begin? I plan on getting a catalog or manual that will show me all the parts the FJ should have and start there. This weekend, I intend to clean her up and then make an inventory of everything she needs...taking the rebuild step by step.

I want her to stay as close to stock as possible because I hear it's rare to find an FJ like this perfectly stock. And I would like to be able to have her up and running so I can wheel easy beginner trails this summer. Oh, I forgot to say, I can't drive stick and she's a 3-on-a-tree. So I have much to learn.

Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Here are some pics.

you have an early fj40...with the original stamped bezel...nice

yes ...keep it stock as possible

OK guys, get ready for some foolish newbie questions. Not only am I new to wheeling and FJs, but I am a reporter! I learn by asking questions.

What is a stamped bezel?

wow.. that looks like a low rust cruiser of that vintage.. Where did you get her? It couldn't have been sitting outside where you pulled it up onto the trailer for long.. I guess it was tarped.. ?

More pics. Dash, engine bay, carb, fuel pump etc.

Congrats!

It belonged to my BF Mike (the handsome silver haired guy in the pics). He said he bought it from who we think were the original owners who only used it during the hunting season. She has 50,000 miles on her. Mike has had her in storage for 2.5 plus because he doesn't have the space for her at his mountain cabin. He also owns a Scout that needs to be built.

stamped bezel...got it...

and my fuel filter is original glass where as most modern ones are plastic....got it.

OK.. now what is a pimp cane?
