Well I had a little accident yesterday... Went wheelin in the mountains of NC with the FJ Cruiser trail team. Fourtunately they had a winch and were able to upright me fairly quick. No oil in the cylanders, ran strong for several more hours after I flopped her... Got me home with a few ratchet straps to keep the top down... Enjoy..

I cringed more at the fellow standing on your exhaust pipe...or am I seeing that wrong?

Glad you're still smiling!

finally... the view of the bottom of an FJ that I do not have to be lying on my back to see. this puts a lot into perspective :)

Yea... I said "Dude... You're standing on my exhaust.." and he said "I know.." so I figure, "well if mr. Toyota Driver Master ASE mechanic thinks it's ok to stand on my exhaust pipe instead of the frame rail, whatever..." My nerves were so shot right then it didn't really matter to me.

did you actually "roll" it, or just lay it on it's side?

looks like the flat trail got the best of you

I just laid it on its side... And yea, the flat trail got the best of me.. What happened was, I don't have power steering, so when my front tires hit the rock you can see in the picture behind my 40 they steered themselves hard to the left. So the momentum of the rig pushed me up that embankment (the pictures don't really do it justice to how high the walls were) and it went over. All that happened in about a second though, so I didn't really have a whole lot of time to react. Hindsight is 20-20 though, so I keep thinking of things I could've done differently that may have helped... Oh well... The next items on my list are to buy a metal tech cage and to do a powersteering conversion...

After looking at the pic again, I was wondering if that was Robbie on your exhaust. I thought the same thing you did...if Robbie thinks it is ok, who am I to argue :)

Not Robbie... Tim Scully of the east coast team.

Is the yellow rig the new FJ? How'd it do in real life?

time to buy a soft top.

i really think the hardtops increase the chances of flopping over having a soft top on...

Haha... Marshall, I looked for my stock one when I was home last, thought I still had it... But I couldn't find it...

The Yellow rig is an FJC.. There were three with us that day, the yellow and ruby one were autotragic with ARB front bumpers and Warn 9000 winches, the silver one was 6 speed manual. All of them had A-trac, lockers, etc. I got a chance to drive the ruby automatic FJC through one of the more technical sections that I had just driven my FJ40 through and it was amazing how seamlessly it took 2 foot ledges. I am sold on the offroad capability of the FJC. I was a little suspicious before and i still dislike the insane blind spots, but it is a beast.

Wow! Are you saying it handled the ledges better than your 40?

It handled the big stuff more smoothly than my 40.. Like, the suspension was so plush you didn't feel like there was a rock under you. But there was a lot of wheelspin and steering wheel rocking required to get up. My 40 just crawled right up, so no, it didn't handle better persay, it just did it with less discomfort to the driver.

Either way it made it up some pretty fun stuff (in the rain). And that's what counts in my book.

I finally saw the video of the recovery of your rig. We are going to try to get you a copy soon. Have you made any repairs.
