He does seem to hate Texans, doesn't he? A bit difficult to understand. Texans are as varied as the people in any other state. Most are likeable, some aren't. It is the same in Hawaii or any other state, including Iowa. Seems like he rubs you the wrong way so maybe he is his own problem.

No, it’s all in fun.... @LS1FJ40 and I are tight. I’ve never been to Texas or Iowa, so I don’t have an opinion about either state. But if California is too cold for me, I probably wouldn’t stand a chance living in any of the central states!
Now back to groundbreaking 80’s tech. Put my 80 to work by hooking up the battery to my mid 1970’s Toyota radio that we are restoring to eventually go into our fj40.

Many are likeable. Except for in the Dallas/North Dallas area. Honestly, the worst people I’ve ever been around, as a group. There were a few good ones but the majority sucked.

Really sorry to hear you had a bad experience here. I certainly consider myself a Texan and I am always disappointed when the boneheads make us all look bad.
I grew up primarily in the Hill country near Austin but my folks were military so we moved alot. As an adult, I have lived in Austin, Houston and DFW as well as many other places in the US...including Kansas City for 4 years which is somewhat close to Iowa (the midwest is nice).
Every place had its ups and downs but I liked most of them. DFW is barely Texan anymore as there are people from all over the globe living here which makes your distaste for the entire area a little perplexing. It is simply another international city as is Houston which means you'll meet people from everywhere here. Fort Worth is still pretty Texan, even more so than Austin at this point as Austin is quickly becoming international as well.
I can certainly understand your perspective. My thoughts about each of the places I have lived has been colored by my experiences while living there. Those experiences related primarily to the people I was around every day. You obviously didn't get the pick of the litter when you were here.
I like DFW and have had good experiences here for the most part. People are friendly and the cost of living is great. The biggest challenge to living in DFW is the distance you have to travel to reach the ocean or mountains but there are nice places to go if you research it.
PM me and let me know if you make it down here and I'll buy you a beer. Hopefully I can change your opinion about Texans. Maybe you could go to one of our club events and get to know some of the cruiser community down here.....good people.

I had great experiences with the Lone Star Land Cruiser club when I was there. Good peeps. When I left Texas I unloaded a bunch of 40 parts to the club to give away to anyone that needed them.
I get what you mean about DFW being an international city. Ironically the issue was never the people from Cali, CO, NY, NC (all places people were from we made friends with) it was the Texans.
The Hill country is wonderful. I’d move to Austin/New Braunfels area in a heartbeat.
Ugh....please don’t tell me this is going to turn into 4 pages of Burger joint rating rants! Let me see if I can reroute this convo back to my 80, awesome scenery, bikinis and beaches......you know, the things that really matter.
On a borderline technical note, got some fancy new oem sun visors installed and an overhead console put in. Now just need to find a sub tank to tie it all together!
That talk of burger ratings is totally inappropriate to the island tech theme.
Who makes the best Loco Moco that goes in an 80 would be more appropriate. I vote for cafe 100 in Hilo, but all the VOG blowing in might spoil the grindz.
