and it has a stick in its butt.

Just be glad it doesn't like rolling in it. Friend of mine had a lab mix that did that. Was miserable when we went backpacking. Having s*** dog all weekend is no fun.

Ever heard of a s*** eating hound?

Dog eats own poop=win..

Buy more dogs if you want to have the privilege of picking up and disposing of dog poop.

(don't kiss the dog.)

At least it is not screwing the cat....my dog did that for years. Raped the poor thing. He got over it though as the cat is no longer here.

My Husky (previous dog) would eat some cat s***, thats about it. She puked it up all over my car once, it was awful. She loved to roll in a fresh carcass or s*** and would do that as much as she could. This was by far the worst thing I have ever had to deal with concerning a pet. I stopped trying to wash it off and would just shave the damn dog.

Yeah the consensus is that most dogs stop after a year or so... I tried a garlic capsule today and will keep trying to see if it works... The big problem is that it is just intermittent behavior, so I don't know when it is or is not an issue any more. For now I just try to pick up poop as soon as she goes, or as soon as I see it.

Are you training the dog or is she training you????

This seems about right

My dog used to poop while he was eating of course he was about 103 in dog years, seemed rather counter productive to me but still pretty funny to see. But the worst thing he ate was socks and we always saw them about 2 hours later....

Well we kept one of the socks, made it pretty interesting when I would try to find a pair of socks then I would remember that Chief had devoured it :(

You DONT want your dog eating feaces that could have ecoli!!!!

I am not saying our dog did and there was a phase, as a pup, he was doing it BUT, he mysteriously got three types of ecoli. Two of them have been rid from his system. The third one is for life!!! After paying 10 grand in examinations, special treatments, more test in two years, the last one is for ever.

Do your self a favor, put a muzzle on him so he does not eat feaceas and give him more nutrient rich dog food which he may be lacking.

The thing about the pills is that they only work when given to the animal that MAKES the feces. They attempt to make the turd unpalatable, but a dog might still consume it for some reason. I had one German Shepherd that would still eat his poop even with 3x the standard dosage. We gave up after a year. He eventually stopped by about 5 years old but started up again at 7, you know, recreationally.

We learned to bag the crap while it was fresh so he didn't have a chance to eat it. The big problem is all the nimrods who don't clean up their dogs piles from your yard as they walk.

Side note--I once asked a former neighbor why he bothered to mow the dirt backyard where he kept his boxer. He said that he set the blades to the lowest height and thus didn't have to pick up the crap.

My fiancé's dog eats poop. It's really gross and we have tried everything to get the dog to stop. I've seen the dog eat poop as its coming out of the other dog. It's like a kid eating ice cream out of a soft serve ice cream machine.

One morning I woke up a little hungover and maybe a little drunk and let the dogs out in the back yard. I went back inside and came back a few minutes later to let them back in. I yelled and my dog came inside and her dog would not come in. I'm getting pissed off after a few minutes of yelling but the dog finally comes. Whenever the dog comes up to the back door it has its mouth closed and is acting sneaky. Well I'm used to my dog who tries to sneak in bones or sticks in his mouth so I reach down and make the dog drop it in my hand. It turns out this was no stick or bone. The dog drops a fresh turd out of its mouth and right into my hand. I'm yelling and as a natural reaction drop the turd right out of my hand and into the floor in the kitchen. I then proceed to step on the turd with my bare feet. Now I'm hungover and have crap on my foot and hand trying to hobble to the shower to wash off without tracking poop all over the house. I learned a valuable lesson that day. Now I let the dog finish whatever snack it's eating before coming inside.

This stuff works;

After we fed it to Jake for a week or so he quit eating poop, his or any other critters. He didn't have access to any other poop until he had eaten a few of his own the were "flavored" after that he had no interest in eating any poop. Negative re-enforcement works.

I'll give it a try. Problem is that she quits for weeks at a time and then start up again if I miss a pile or two. Random.

I had a dog that did this, we tried all the tricks, pills, spices, etc. and nothing made much difference.

Best luck I had was with a remote zap collar and giving him a negative reinforcement when he would go to chow down on a pile. Between that and I think just generally growing out of it, he stopped. Luckily he never got any worms or bacterial issues from it.

I have a 13 year old lab that is a notorious turd hound. She knows she is not supposed to. On a walk she finds a pile and marks it, then waits until we are a ways away and runs back to it. She has done it her whole life, I figure at this point I might as well let her have at it.

The new pup has sampled the forbidden food a time or two but is doing ok :)
