You can get duplicate keys made from classic key men (key-men.com). Just give them the numbers off of the tumbler. Cheap and quick. Then send back the one you got from CCOT!

BTW, nice rig and welcome!

I painted the frames and the seat backs but had an upholstery shop put the foam and covers on. Many people on Mud have done it themselves but I did not trust myself so I paid someone to do it….
When you recovery them make sure they put enough padding on top of the seat frames, ours are boarder line as far as I’m concerned. You can feel and see parts of the seat frame and it seems like it’s too thin in material up there. They have been on for about two years now and still are holding up fine.

So, finally i got carburetor, water pump and thermostat housing installed, also oil has been changed and antifreeze put in.
After I put a battery in it I was able to turn the engine without any strange noises.
I am getting fuel to the carb but no spark on the plugs.
:bang:
Since i am getting right voltage going to the coil but nothing coming out I figured that coil is bad - so tomorrow another run to Autozone :)
Btw I am able to turn engine but I am not getting any power to dashboard and no lights - is there a relay that might be bad or I am looking at wiring issue?
Appreciate any suggestions.

neat color for sure, nice find

Coil is probably ok,I would check the gap for the points in the distributer first, before replacing the coil..Nice stock 40,they are becoming hard to find now days..

Do You know what gap should be? Points are moving but there is no spark between them so i think there is nothing coming from coil, there is power going to the coil but nothing comes out.

Sorry for the delay but got sidetracked with house projects by wife
here id the update: just picked up my new WEBER 32/36 from MAF, new water pump arrived couple days ago. Still waiting for thermostat housing and hoses.
Now i am getting ready to put gas tank and carburetor back in.
Since WEBER does not have return line what do i do with all the outlets on the tank??? I got 4 - i know i can loop 2 for the Separator, one is going to filler neck what about last one? Any ideas?
Also do you guys know how much might cost to reupholster front seats in So.Cal?
Here are pictures of the new carb and the rest.View attachment 373423Here is the carburetor and water pump

Plug the line on the tank.
Make sure the wires are connected properly to the coil. I had the same issue. Do a search on this and you will see some good pics.

If you have power to the + side of coil and the - side is hooked to the dist and the gap is ok(.016) it could be the coil. With the cap off and the coil wire close to ground and key in the on position, you should be able to open and close the points with a screw driver by hand and get spark. Also make sure the neg wire going to the dist housing is not grounding on the housing. It must pass thru the dist housing and to the points without touching any ground.Hope this helps, good luck,it is always fun hearing an f wake up from a long sleep!

It's ALIVE!!!!!
After 10 years and few weeks of my blood and tears(plus whole bunch of new shiny parts) it started right up. Valves are little noisy and there was some rust and black smoke coming out of the pipe but other than that its sound sweet :)
Now its time to bleed brakes and clutch so i can move it around, also there is no lights, blinkers and brake lights so there is probably a short somewhere.
Any particular place I should check?(already checked fuses) As usual any advice is appreciated.

CONGRATS....on getting her running,,,,,,
on your wiring problem, i bet it is a a bad ground , TONIGHT -- had a side maker light on mine that was out , checked the bulb, it was fine and it was a rusty ground , little sandpaper on the ground, and it worked fine,.....BUT I still cannot find the ground for the tag light.

Got my headlights, rear lights and back markers working - looks like light switch is little loose, i even got the cluster light working - at least one side. Still no blinkers and brake lights, but i am working on it.

Yep it is a sea foam green AKA spring green. mine is a Nov 1970 registered in 71

bad grounds can be a pita. track them down and clean them up and you will be surprised at how much better things work. I had a tail light out on my 40 and when I took the lens off the whole damned fixture came apart in my hand. Damned rust, good luck chasing the electrical demons.

OK so engine is running, but I got no clutch action and no brakes. I took slave apart, well at least I tried - cylinder inside is not moving at all, even after I treated it with PB Blaster no go! So now I am waiting for new master and slave I just ordered, in the meantime I'm gonna bleed brakes and see if they work otherwise I will have to go wheel by wheel :( ( not big fan on working on non adjustable drum brakes, but they will have to do for now). Next update as soon as parts show up and weather improves.

Definitely check on your grounds.... On many cruisers the taillights ground where they mount; so you might want to clean those up and make sure your getting juice to both sides of your fuses. Nice old Cruiser btw. Thank your lucky stars that you have very little rust!;) I got my cruiser in AZ and still have a little rust I'm going to have to deal with. Congrats and welcome!
