I was in your exact same situation a few years ago, down to the caliper bolt on the hub after having been towed. No prominent mud member romance, though. Maybe next time...

Seen this twice now on my rig and buddies. That bolt is pretty special, so I ordered two from @beno last year and keep them in the glove box. I have seen several threads where people are in the middle of nowhere and it flies off.

My .02 is to use blue thread locker when installing this bolt, definitely not anti-seize!

Hmm, dialing now...lets see how embarrassing this is...

"Thank you for calling the Center for Sound Hearing"

Booo!!

Glad it worked out. Sorry I feel asleep by the time you took care of it :p

I was beginning to wonder if you EVER sleep...Looking at the post times of your messages, they seem most prominent between 12:00 AM and 4:00 AM. Then again at 6:30 AM. Open the curtains and let the sun in.....if you can do it without burning to death! I'm sure you still don't have a reflection......That's why you don't like the chrome package!!!

I actually haven't slept yet. My son was sick and I needed to take him to the E.R. late last night. So I didn't have much to do but skulk around here :(

But typically I sleep from 3am to 7am. Every vampire needs his shuteye :flipoff2:

Hopefully others can chime in. I've never had Trans issues. The caliper issue I've run into twice now on other trucks.

I've had this happen - twice! Once was the top caliper bolt, would lock the wheel up in reverse. Found out what to look for by searching here on Mud. Fixed it, all was right in the world. Until yesterday - took Gojira out to run some errands - and son of a bitch if it didn't lose a bottom bolt & start locking the wheel up. Now I need to order another bolt, and hope I can get the burrs out of the inside of the rim. (Totally preventable - if I had cleaned everything up good - and verified the torque on the bottom fastener the last time I had the wheel off.)

I've been there.... Hope your son's doing well! Get some rest when you can!

Yeah I'm methodical about checking and torquing BOTH the caliper bolts and the underside knuckle bolts.

Yeah... I'm going to check the other side - hopefully I didn't fubar my wheel too badly. It sucks when something on your rig breaks. It sucks much worse when it's your own damn fault for neglecting to double check something. I was so mad at myself yesterday. :bang:

We have ALL been there :(

We have ALL been there :(

I smell a new thread coming...

"We've all been there..." And people post up the stupid stuff they've done (or my done).

Like when I lifted up on my tail gate too fast and my scissor bracket folded up and dented and scratched next to my taillight housing. AWESOME!

Just wanted to revive this thread and let others know that this was my issue as well.
Driving away from a light a couple of days ago, thought I heard a clink, then as the vehicle would roll about half a wheel rotation forward, it felt as if something in the front end was catching and the vehicle lurched a little. Pulled over immediately on a side street. couldn't see anything. couldn't tow it as it would catch in neutral too.
Reverse worked fine.
Got home removed the outer flange at each front hub and with each twist the driveshaft would turn, both sides.
Did remove the driver side caliper but not the passenger.
Found this thread and realized I hadn't checked the passenger side and found the lower bolt, luckily, out and resting on the connecting arm, with washer still.
Torqued bolts.
Rolling again.
Thanks, NLXTACY for the suggestion.
Good reminder to re-tighten bolts after work. I replaced the brake pads a couple of months ago. I always torque to spec but they must have loosened.
