Really looks great, Mike.

...sooooo, you gonna bring it to Mardi Krawl? Can we toss a bunch of firewood in the bed like last time?

Haha...

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the compliment. I am planning to bring it to Mardi Krawl. We'll see about the firewood.

I hear you have had great success in your garage as well. How do you like the new motor?

Michael <><

I figured we wouldn't be loading it down with firewood!

Vortec motor is a huge upgrade over the carb'd SBC I pulled out...

Solved all the issues I had with the truck, and an extra 75-100HP and TQ doesn't hurt, either! Really fun to drive.

I'll be in Huntsville (with my 60) over New Years - If your club is having any kind of get together, maybe we'll bump into each other.

I've been under the weather as of late so my work on the truck has slowed. But a buddy stopped by today for a test of a little project he is working on for me. When he gets this thing done I won't be able to install it yet. When installed the garage door won't clear the truck.

Hey Michael, sorry to hear you're under the weather. Hope you shake it off for Christmas. The bumper is going to suit you're rig very well. Where did you source those tailgate bumpers? Also, not sure if you're interested in putting reflectors on your truck, but I found these that are pretty close to original looking, but slightly smaller.

Thanks man. I've been on antibiotics for 3 days so its getting better. I purchased the bump stops from a fellow muddier. But since that time City Racer has started carrying them on his website. For the same price I paid for them last year. I appreciate the offer on the reflectors but I managed to save the pair that were originally on my rig. I just haven't gotten the nerve up to drill my new paint job yet!

Nice rear bar mate!

While I haven't made as much progress as I had hoped, I have made some. I have run into a snag though. It seems during the transport of my new H55 that it tumbled around a bit in the back of the pickup. The end result is that the tranny won't go into neutral. The shifter will go into all 5 forward gears and reverse. The shifter even goes into the neutral position but the output shaft is not free. The consensus of opinions is that the input and output shafts have been driven into each other and thus not allowing the shafts to free spin when in neutral. I'm stilling trying to sort this one out. I did get some work done on the doors while I have been thinking about how to fix the transmission.

Does anybody know where I might acquire the sealing tape for the motor or an acceptable substitute?

Looking good. I like your detail work!

About the h55. I've seen that the reverse gear works itself out of it's lever internally, but that blocks all gears. Not what you described.
I'd pull the top cover off and check if you can shift into all the gears by hand with the shift collars. If you can, you've isolated the problem to the topcover. Do you have an fsm for the h55? It's complicated to get that right and really hard to explain with not having one in my hands.

Thanks Mark! I have the top cover off and reverse is in the correct position. I can shift it into all gears manually and I do have the FSM which covers the H55F but I do not have an FSM on just the transmission, if there is such a manual.

I should have a manual for just the h55. I can check that one out tomorrow and scan some pages.

Back before I got all modern-like and started running H41's, my three speed had a similar issue. Well, it could be a similar issue seeing as I'm not exactly Mr. Gearbox. Just prior to pulling the shifter, I selected reverse [was parked on a hill]. I pulled the shifter, then spent a week doing a cab swap and by the time came to install the shifter again I couldn't for the life of me figure out why I could only shift half the pattern. Until I remembered. So maybe one of the selectors has selected a gear, but you installed the shifter as though it was in neutral?

The shifter ran through all the gears before removing the cover Cult. So I don't think that is the issue with this one. But thanks for the input just the same.

Copy 10-4.

I guess i was wrong. I either have misplaced the H55 manual or someone borrowed it from me. Can't find it anywhere.
Although all the info should be in the FSM you have. I just thought the separate manual might have had some more info.

I hope you can figure it out and get it working like it should!
