Had a bit of a problem with the thread seizing up and shredding on the aluminium pipe work from the A/C. Waiting to hear the cost of new pipe work from Toyota.

$150 for four new sections of pipe and fittings, could have been worse I guess.

looks like you need to replace the complete cooling units those fins look very sick.

Yeah I know but its working for the moment so that'll have to be a job for another day as the budget is being pushed to the limit at the moment with the extras that have come to light during the body rebuild. Also once the bodywork is finished I'll be digging a bit deeper under the bonnet and may have to prioritise other mechanical fixes above the A/C. We're heading into winter here so it won't be a big deal for a few months if it breaks down.

I decided to take the opportunity to paint the dashboard while its off the car. Here are some before shots, I'll post some after shots on the weekend.

Yeah should be picking her up Monday or Tuesday, all the paint is done just needs to be bolted back together. Also the panel beater is going to make one of the pipes for the A/C as Toyota do not supply it anymore.

I have decided to replace the wheels with new Sunraysia's as it will cost about $50 more than sandblasting and painting the old ones, I'm sure I'll get that back on eBay for the old ones.

I also replaced the old toyota speakers with new ones while I had the dash apart.

Whilst tightening everything up the panel beater realised the brackets for the fuel tank are different on the replacement cab! Now arranging with breakers yard that supplied the cab to swap fuel tanks. Was hoping to have it today but now looks like next week! Bugger!

No fuel tank available so cutting brackets off of the old cab and welding onto the replacement, more time, more money!

How exactly are the tanks and straps different And from what years mate.
It's strange to think why they would have made a difference

Love the build. That will be a strong truck when your done.

...A panel beater, Classic.

The original cab is a 1998 and the replacement is a 1991. Attached is a picture of tank the panel beater said was no good for older cab. Panel beater said chassis was slightly different also. Will send picture of current tank later.

They are a pain to get out unless you unbolt the tail shaft,
I wonder if they have different part numbers on toyotadiy

Looks good mate, slow and steady wins the race.

For the record, and you've leaned this the hard way, never ever by a ex mines vehicle. They are almost guaranteed to be loaded with rust from spending so much time operating in wet conditions, usually kilometers underground where the salt levels in the water are extreme.

But it looks like you've broken its back now and it's all starting to come together :)

Thanks for the support guys, should have her back Monday to complete the final bits and pieces, more pictures to follow.
