I've been painting the interior with a plastic paint that dries like rubber. Got a bit carried away painting the screws!

Great job! Looking good!
What type of paint is that what is it called?

More delays!! Finally picking her up tomorrow at 8:30am. In the meantime I bought all new bolts for the wing mirrors. Also on the passenger side the door doesn't have the threads to receive the wing mirror bolts. When I took it off there were nuts on the inside which were a real pain to get undone. To prevent this in the future I bought some aluminium, drilled it out close to the diameter of the bolts and created the thread by driving the bolts through. Also cut some rubber for between the mirror bracket and the outside of the door. Decided to put rubber on the aluminium plate for inside the door as well just in case I tighten it a bit too tight and it cuts into the door panel.

Hi there 75 Ute

There's a product called Nutsert which panel beaters use to attach the mirrors to the door. They are inserted with something that looks like a rivet gun and give a real professional finish. Any panel beater can install these for only a few dollars.

Thanks L79, wish I'd known about those earlier. I'll remember those for next time, no-one will know about my homemade fix except me, and you guys of course ;)

Hi Cicak, the aluminium won't actually be touching the steel it will be separated by the rubber which is 3mm thick.

I used bicycle inner tubes ( dirt cheap and easy to cut with scissors ) to keep metal items from rubbing and rusting. Although I can't prove it, I would guess the rubber spacers probably reduced squeaking also. :)
The local bicycle shop probably thought I had dozens of bicycles.

Finally got her back from having the bottom half of the cab swapped over and being completely re-painted! Still lots to do though :)

Fitted the interior light I bought from the breakers yard. Came on as soon as I connected it, was a bit worried as the wreck it came off of had no battery so couldn't test it.

Can you spot the mistake I made fitting the under bonnet protector?

You didn't insert the insulator into the metal somewhere near the squirter. Am I correct??:D

The hoses for the windscreen washers should be on this side of the protector as evidenced by the spare holes in the protector. I am however claiming a design flaw as the bonnet has clips for the hoses where the protector does not :p
