I installed my 30 spline longfields this morning.

Had to grind a little off the top and bottom to make them fit.
I found a sanding disc makes quick clean work of it.

I also had to get a new spindle bushing. When the birf shattered it munched up the brass bushing.

So I had warn premium hubs on it. And my new longfields came with chro Molly hub gears. I called Trail Gear (who sells the longs) and they strongly recommended the Aisin Hubs upgraded with their hardened gears.

So I got a set of Aisin Hubs and painted the dials up and put them on.

All ready for Moab again.

I have been noticing a slight lean in the rear on the passenger side. More so since I returned from Moab and had a chance to flex the suspension. A full one inch lower on the pass side.

After some research it sounds like a fairly common problem. Though most cruiser lean is on the drivers side. Due to the weight of the spare tire. Well my spare is on the passenger side, along with the gas tank & battery. So it leans to the passenger side.

To counteract this I cut out a 2 3/4 x 5 1/2 piece of 3/8 scrap I had. Drilled a hole forward one inch from center b/c I moved my rear axle back one inch and mounted it on top of my drivers side spring pack. Luckily my spring center bolt was long enough to go through it all.

It took care of almost all of the lean. It's <1/4" now. That's good enough for now.

I'm thinking I will do a SOA and put in the 60 axles I have. Along with a shackle reversal, cut & turn & high steer kit.

I quickly realized in Moab that I really don't like my approach angle in the front. +

I just can't leave well enough alone.

Yeah... just being the voice of doom...

If you aren't going to do a SOA soon a U bolt flip kit will gain you some useful clearance under the springs...(at least in the rocks we wheel up her in the north east)

Back in Moab this week with my buddy and his Isuzu rally or whatever they call it. Having a great time!!! Here are a few pics from the hells revenge trail

And I found out it does good in deep water. This was the second time I did this. The first time I went out farther before turning and the water came up to my seat bottom level! My Butt was soaked!

Now I have to check my
diffs t/c and trans for water :-(

The kids will never forget it though.

Amazing how far this truck has come:)

The part where your son says "It's so awesome" sums it up nicely!

I'm getting ready to redo my suspension. Fj60 Axles cut/turn SOA & SR Hi steer / re gear the axles bigger tires ect ect ect.

Questions. The 1984 60 axles have 3.70's and my cruiser currently has 4.11's. I'm running 33's now and will be changing to 35's with the SOA I would not mind a lower for wheeling.
What gears should I go with? 4.88? 5.29? I don't drive it on the freeway

Is one better than the other in the Toyota 9.5?

You have an h42/stock geared split case in that behind the swapped in 2F correct? If so, and because it isn't used on the road I'd spend the money to improve overall gearing elsewhere. Even the 5.29 won't make enough difference. SIMO, better choice would be swap your 4.11s into the new axles and do transfer case gears (4:1) or different transmission instead.

Correct stock 1984 FJ60 split case and the h42. You bring up good points to explore. I will have to look into lower t case gears. I don't really like the idea of swapping transmissions right now on top of all the other stuff I'm about to do.
