Dude.. Seriously awesome work with that wheel well, top notch! It is crazy how cool the fab is starting to get with these 55s and other cruisers in the last couple years.. We are almost entering hotrod-level creativity I feel like.. Awesome man!

Thanks :D

I am having alot of fun with this project.I can do more and be more creative than I can with one of my car projects.I just like building cool stuff :grinpimp:

Why do all the trucks in the shop run their directional tires backwards?

except the dually slung of course.

IROKS chunk less and in most cases directional tires work better on the rocks backwards :D

And a few pics of misc. stuff.

Some D ring mounts for the front bumper and a couple for the rear. They were 1x2 flat bar :D

I made some plates to cover up the rough holes that were cut in the grill and stuck some cool LED marker lights to them :grinpimp:

I thought it would look kinda cool and let a little heat out of the engine compartment at the same time.I buzzed these slots through the vent cover thingys with a 3/8" endmill :grinpimp:

Thats all for now.But this weekend I should make huge progress if Im lucky.I have 5 days off :bounce::bounce2::bounce::bounce2:

That front bumper is going to be massive. I can't believe how huge those ring mounts are!!

I'd use some beefier material for the tow points next time.:flipoff2:

I would have but I didnt feel like carving some out of 4"x4" cold rolled .I just hope they dont fall off :flipoff2:

Here be the rear bumper.Its 2"x4"x.25" and its 38.25" wide.And thats a 3/4" D ring :D

Brackets welded to the back and then bolted to the frame.Gonna have some 1.75 DOM bars wraping around the quarters for protection :D

Where did you get those lights?

I got them at a heavy truck parts place here in town. They are tractor trailer running lights. They have some clear ones also that I was looking at for reverse lights.

that is the SHIZZLE FRIZZLE!!!!!

slotted vents are actually a stock item on certain year pigs, but its still cool.

oh the things i would make if i had access to a machine shop.

Crazy Thoughts!!!

This has to be the cooooolest pig build ever!!!!!
I have a 72 55 w/400 SB Chevy, turbo 350, LC 3spd x-fer, front disc brakes, 4" lift on 35" muds and saganaw PS but you got me think'n CRAZY THOUGHTS:idea:!!!

I saw some stock slotted ones around the site somewhere.I wanted to buy a pair, but this was cheaper :D

Thanks for the good words guys :beer::beer:

Sorry I aint got no new pics right now  The cage is 90% done. The rear bumper is done and just has to be welded up.The custom dash thingy built will be done today. But Im still left with a bunch of little BS.Easy stuff though.

Its still gonna be a mad scramble to get it wheelable by the 22nd to make a big 4WD run I would like to attend with it :D

Chris

I got the dash finished up.I wasnt going to make a dash at first.I was just going to mount all the gauges in cups. But I started looking at the dash in the 55 after I pulled it and decided to give it a shot. This is what I ended up with :D I got everything all mounted and a co worker here wired it all up for me :grinpimp: And I forgot to take the blue layout junk off of the back so its stayin

And the creative ways you have to come up with when working by yourself :D I cut these little pieces of angle and held them to the tube with hose clamps. You can then set the tube on them to hold it up.Then I held the halo (is that how the hell you spell that? ;p) with a ratchet strap.I did the same thing with the rear and it worked out great :D
