Unrelated to my 40 but some family & friends cruised over from the coast to visit and grab a bite at the local burger joint.
I love seeing these on the road. Last time we took this one out we went up Highway 1 here on CA coast. It was a good day.

I haven't been able to do a whole lot lately but I was able to clean up that front end.
Ditched the PO's grill and cleaned it up a bit.

I finally got around to building a workbench. Now I don't have to work off the tailgate of the pickup.
I wanted to build one with strength in mind as I plan to have it for a long time and plan to USE it. I could put a motorcycle motor on it without worrying, Landcruiser parts as well. A bench vice etc... We were guessing it has to be around 400lbs.
it has Twenty Two 2"x4"x12' for the butcher block top. Then bordered in 2"x8". A few more 2"x4" for the legs.
I plan to put 3/4" plywood on the top so as it wears I can remove it and screw on a new one.

I cut the shifters from the transfer case today. Initially I left them long, not exactly sure why.

Some complain about their commute to and from work. Although it is about 1.25 hours each way, I appreciate mine.

After a rattle can coat of black primer it was ready to put back on.

Most my parts I got from Jim (Downey). The high pressure & low pressure hose fittings too If I remember.

Here is a '75 that a coworkers neighbor bought and never finished.
I haven't made a deal yet. I will go later this week to take a look at it.
After talking to the owner he said he rebuilt the V8 and was currently looking into EFI options and never got any further.
Toyota 3 speed with AA to SBC adapter. SOA conversion but never lengthened the drive shafts. Open diffs, factory gears.

I am already tossing ideas around about ditching the SOA, bring it back to factory height and possibly pulling the V8.

Wow...That's an SOA done with 4 inch lift springs, it looks like... you'd get a work out getting in and out of that thing.

Went out for a short cruise today.

I was looking at my WARN 9.5ti today wondering if I could make it work. It is just wide enough to fit inside the frame rails but not inside the steering box. Any thoughts?

Maybe... a raised platform... mounted to the frame rails... above the box.

Or, front and rear hitch receivers and the winch mounted to a hitch cradle.
