If I still had my stock stuff I'd gladly give it to you. Can't go wrong with any of the name brand lifts out there honestly. Pick something in your budget and go with it. If you plan to add a lot of weight in the future then that'll change things.

Thanks for posting links! I just picked up a 2012 GX460 and was starting to put together a build/price list.

I'm enjoying following along with your progress. Good luck with the suspension upgrade.

Analysis paralysis...
Again Tex68w is correct. Tamatos-tomotos, patatos-pototos. Basically unless you're racing or seriously abusing your rig, pretty much any suspension lift will work, and for a very long time! Find something within your budget and pull the trigger. Shocks are easy enough to replace and upgrade later if you want to go cheap on something and they'll still last years, plenty of time to re-coop your bank account for more upgrades while keeping the wife happy.

Thanks for the thought. I’d love to pick some brains of those who know this stuff like yourself. My fast car knowledge doesn’t suit me well here. :) Here is what I have planned for this truck before I’m done that impacts weight.
  • Roof rack + roof top tent
  • Drawers/storage in place of 3rd row
  • Small water tank (3-5gal)
  • Fridge + large custom cooler for “beverages”
Steel rear bumper (one of the last mods)
  • Rock sliders
  • Raptor liner coat the whole truck

Suggestions on an inexpensive lift? I’d love to do 3” but anything 2” and over would work for me. Thankfully I’m going to keep using my 265/70/17’s for a while so I don’t need new control arms me thinks.

Dobinson's, OME/ARB, or Ironman. Any of those would do just fine. Pick spring rates for your near future loads and mods, if your drawers and rear bumper are a ways off then you can live with a lower spring rate until you make those upgrades and change them out then. This will make for a much better ride and performance until you need that added capacity.

I would love to read a comparison of the lift systems. I want a rig that will do the Dalton Highway, AK and trails like Imogene pass in Co. . I don’t ever plan on do the Hammers run. I would love to see what lift system would meet my needs.

I'm in agreeance with r2m, It's what I did. I've read and read this site looking for suggestions, and from everything thing I've researched and considering my budget, the voice inside my head decided on the Ironman Foam Cells Stage 2. Lift, check, UCAs, check, Free Traction boards, awesome. Everyone seems to love what they have lift-wise, until they don't. I don't hear a lot of negatives on any of our options, just differing combinations.

Update. This Sunday is the day install the front bumper. With it I will also be installing my F sport grille as well.

Also, I picked up a Pedal Commander with the $30 off coupon AND I’ve got my raptor coat, degreaser, sand paper and some other goodies. I won’t spoil the surprise but I’ve got a plan on something that will either turn out great ... or not.

Lastly I’m going to get my GROM unit and USB/12V ports installed before this month is over.

Wow! So much for any "family" time this month!! :p
Unless you can get them all out in the garage helping!

I wish. My 2 year old won’t be much help and my wife while mechanically inclined is really only for basic maintenance.

Pedal Commander installed, worth every penny. I thought I’d do like Sport +2 or 3 but with all this torque City +1 is where it’ll likely stay. Completely removed the electronic throttle lag. I think I’ll buy the ShiftPower for the 470 so I could switch ‘em around if needed. Now if only the double sided tape would stick...

Forgive the dirty floor. Haha.

It’s a great day to install a bumper yes? :D

Yep, awesome weather!
Just make sure there's time enough for the occasional "cold one" throughout the project! 🍻🍺

And here she is.

The most time was spent re-positioning. It isn’t 100% perfect but it is within 1/16” or so. Overall I’m happy how it turned out. We had about 5 people walk or drive by saying they liked it as we were working.

Looks good now it's time for some new headlights.

Thanks! Refinish these first. I wish we had cool aftermarket ones. Doesn’t the Tundra, Taco and such get some cool headlights?

Bumper looks great! I'm really thinking about getting the pedal commander, I just need to sneak it past the wife.

Thanks!

It’s for real worth it, the pedal commander. I wish you were local I’d let you give it a go. Paging @giovanni
