I've got a ton of plans, but I started off small and cheap-ish first since I am also building up our 470 too.

Here's a link to the products purchased:

Here she is on Day 1 all nice and clean...

The first series of mods were pretty straight forward. Starting with naturally wheels and tires, which was an easy decision since my wife picked out such brilliant wheels and tires for her 470. Also added an anti-tailgating device also known as a hitch. Note, already scrapped it once on a rather steep inclined parking lot driveway. Whoops...

Next step was LED light replacements inside and out. Note to self, put the sunshade up on car seat so the baby's preciously beautiful blue eyes are not blasted with LIGHT. I'll also include my recent LED low beam and high beam change. What a difference this makes!

For the next step after the interior lights once we moved to the new house was tackling the hyper flash from changing out the turn indicator bulbs to LEDs. For that I built my own harness. I've got the materials to build two more but I may just hold off and keep these parts as spares.

IMG_0109.JPG

Here's a demo of the LEDs in action in the daytime and a lightshow with both the 460 and 470 on Halloween. Enjoy!

Outside (460 and 470):

Inside the 460:

Lightshow!

And now as of today I have removed the running boards in preparation of creating custom lighting using some small rock light pods. I'll be putting three pods on each side underneath. Oh and FYI, the underneath of this rig is clean as ****. Holy jesus does this thing look clean underneath. I see zero wet spots or any evidence of anything ever leaking.

IMG_0698.JPG

Lastly, installed a glovebox organizer insert...I just felt like it needed it to be useful. Sorry for the blur, I'm going to take another picture and replace this one.

IMG_0697.JPG

The next steps...

Right now I have the GROM Vline VL2 unit to install to get me my damn carplay. I also have 3x 2-port USB power supplies to install, one in the front console cubby, one in the back row under the rear HVAC controls and one for the rear cargo area. Along with those USBs I also have three 12V power ports to install. One in the front glovebox, and two in the rear cargo area near the USBs. I've got all of the wiring and parts to complete these just not enough time.

For the exterior, in the back I'm also going to install some low profile LED pods next to the license plate lights to give more lighting when the reverse lights come on. Once all of these interiors ports are installed and the GROM unit is installed my next step is to build a custom front license plate bracket (because Texas is dumb and requires a front plate) and build a custom mount for little 4" single row LED lightbars in the air vents next to the fog lights to be used AS foglights so I can ditch the factory ones. I also have the F-sport grille I plan on getting installed as well. Some of the other things I'm toying with is a flat black vinyl on the bonnet (hood) to reduce glare and ditch LED light pods.

Off to a good start!

What a great way to start! NO leaks of any KIND!!!
Nothing like starting with a great foundation to build from and know it'll last.
Couple of things, where did you get your clove box organizer? Between extra first aid, HAM radios, frequency finder, manuals, etc. my glove is a mess, things always sliding out when I open it.
The other is that I love the super bright LED's in my rear bumper for backing up at night! I need to also add some proximity lights on the roof rack in the rear so I have more area flood lighting at night when the rear door is open.

They sell the organizer on amazon, it’s for both the 5th Gen and the GX. I ordered one a while back but I misplaced it before I could install it lol, I need to look for that over the holidays because it looks extremely useful.

@Tex68w got it, I purchased that glovebox organizer off of amazon. It is EXTREMELY useful and inexpensive. There is a 5% coupon on this item right now so I suggest getting one sooner rather than later. The plastic feels quite sturdy too FYI.

Amazon product ASIN B087FBQCLN
I agree with the flood lighting at the rear. I'm also debating on adding more lighting that is tied in to the rear cargo area dome light. Even some low power LEDs would work wonders for lighting overhead and outboard rearward. Hell, those cheap LED rock light knockoffs on amazon should do the trick for a multitude of uses including this.

I'm going to add links to all of the items I purchased that I can find in one of the posts I reserved above. :)

BANG! Just ordered one!
Thanks MrTorque!

Forgot to post this, quite possibly one of the best quality of life improvements. We have one for our 470 as well. The 3M VHB double sided tape I linked to holds this thing in there very securely and handles fully loaded large tumblers with ease.

Great idea!
Can you still close the cover? Or is it too thick?
I could also see that as a simple wood shop project. Get a nice piece of 1/8" - 1/4" sheet of your favorite grain, a hole saw and a little varnish.
Oh, and don't forget the 3M tape!
I may make one! Thanks for the idea!

We recently added one in ours and I can't believe how much better it is with the larger Yeti cups. Good idea with the 3M tape, I'll have to do that.

You lose the option of being able to use the cover. I left the cover on there because it adds a level of rigidity to the cup holder insert. They are well worth it and quite inexpensive. It is in my opinion the best mod for a 470 or 460 for under $50.

I wish I would of paid the extra for the engraving but I'm satisfied nonetheless. Don't forget to use the VHB stuff, it'll never move. Even when it was blazing hot outside Texas style it wouldn't budge. Too bad you wouldn't be in my neck of the woods so I could let you use some of mine.

Oh yea, a reference pic with Yukon tumblers. Rtic also fits perfectly.

Good advice! Yea I figured why the hell not and paid extra for the logo. I agree that it's one of the best mods under $50 for the GX.

Posting for @r2m.

Gonna install some lights to by the spoiler of both GX’s and a rear camera on the 470.

I've seen quite a few license plate camera attachments on Amazon.
Here's one example with over 12,000 reviews and 4+ star rating!

Well I kissed a guard rail @ 2mph so it’s time to think about off-road bumpers sooner rather than later.

Other than the metal tech, what other off-road bumpers require no cutting and is a direct bolt on replacement?
