There is a similar thread in both the 100 and 200 Classifieds Sections, makes sense here too. These trucks are changing hands at a rapid rate these days, having consolidated live market data is a nice thing for both buyers and sellers.

If you have recently bought or sold an 80 series and are comfortable sharing the details, post it here.

I suggest that anyone in the market for a cruiser also add carsandbids for places to look. I’ve noticed that many trucks sell for significantly less than bat and you get all the benefits. This is probably due to less traffic than bat and other traditional for sale websites. On the contrary, if you’re trying to sell your truck I would highly suggest not using carsandbids simply due to the fact that less eyes are going to be on your vehicle compared to bat and other websites.

'97 LX450 3X locked, 240k miles, fantastic cosmetic shape with 3" OME lift and good maintenance history. Picked it up in September for $14.5k. I haven't done a single thing to it; it's past due for it's PHH though.

Smoking deal in my opinion. Mine was 9k, not 3x locked, interior terrible, and just paid 6k to baseline and bring maintenance up to date…..almost. So I have 16k in the 260k mile 450 that still needs an interior and paint work. It’s a labor of love.

I’m in the same boat.. 10k into an unlocked 97 LC with 228k and tired paint and exterior.

I’ve got a 1996 that’s full built, 5.29s, brand new 37’s, scs wheels, RCV’s axles, 4x4 labs bumpers, factory locked front and rear, some nice parts on it. It’s has miles, but has top end rebuilt and runs great. I’m not listing it for sale publicly right now. Asking $22k, save yourself a bunch of money buying a built one. Message me if interested.

Of mine? Here are a few.

Yeah. I wasn’t looking for another one. I already had a ‘97 LX450 (unlocked) that I bought in rough condition with 175k (it’s currently in good condition and I’m $12k all in). But this deal was too good to pass up, I had to jump on it.

1994 FZJ 80
340k miles
20k of gear added in last 24 months (Slee rear, ARB front, Prinsu, Sliders, Toyo 35s, Fifteen52, icon Stage 3, Arb light bar, Marlin Crawler, ARB Air Lockers, Re geared)
Was on Ebay April 2021
I bid to 12k as high bidder, reserve not met.
Relisted. I bid to 15k as high bidder, reserve not met. I messaged seller thru Ebay and went to go see it.
He didn't list again, I offered 11k
(It was oxidized white, dirty like it just came off the trail...)
He declined.. but called me back 3 days later and said, bring your 11k cash...
Bought it, and over a few months cleaned it up, removed 12k of the aftermarket goodies to put on my 95' FZJ80.
Then sold the 1994 FZJ80 18k in Aug 2021

That is awesome!

Data point, though a bit dated now; I picked mine up in June 21 for $8500. Some standard Midwest rust and needs some of the regular maintenance items, but all together I think I did ok.

I just got the HDJ81 24 valve HDT-FT from BaT. 117k miles
Drove from Scottsdale to Orange County.. 1 tank of fuel with some to spare...
A FZJ80 would have been 2 tanks.
With BaT fees 30k
But I feel I got it for free...
Why? Well because, 6k lbs one time write off of $25k, in year 1 (you have to own a business to do that), so at a 40% tax bracket is a 10k deduction.
Then, over the next 100k miles... if it was a FZJ that would be 450 fill ups at $90
($40,000 in fuel)
But the Diesel 24V is more like 220 fill ups, at 10% less cost for Diesel 2 (in California)
($20,000)
So after 100k miles, I save $20,000 over a FZJ80 cost in fuel...
So, 10k write off, 20k less in fuel =
Free Landcruiser 😅

Been following you for a while on YouTube. I use my real (pun not intended) name on there. Good to see you on here as well!

Cool.
Yeah, I will be posting a , "Lets Talk about 80 series" soon, just going over the market, prices, inventory, production numbers for all 80s worldwide, Japan mostly, since now they are all eligible to be imported to US... but there is a finite supply and prices are going up... The Aussies are starting to want those diesels too (24 valve)

My 2 cents with the Let's Talk 80 series:

It's big boy time.

-white
-locked
-lifetime CA vehicle
-under 100k miles

only thing missing is cloth interior and i think itd be a record setter for an obd1 truck. still may be though guess well see.
