Most Aggresive All Terrain Tire (for 35's)??

I wanted the ST MAXX but Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 was on sale. More aggressive than I thought they would be but love them.

The AT3 doesn't appear to be any more or less aggressive than the KO2. Both look like they would be fine except in mud.

I agree, but the tread depth is greater on the Falkens. In fact I believe they have the deepest tread of any A/T tire. That's what steered me away from the Duratracs - I feel like even when brand new they look like they're 50% worn.

I'm in the market for new tires as well...from the research I've done I think it's worth it to pay a little extra for the KO2s...Actually it's almost the same price if you go through Sam's Club or something like that as opposed to buying the Falkens from TiresPlus because TiresPlus charges so much for the install and insurance on the tire where at Sam's it's all included at $15/tire install charge.
So spend a bit extra now and save later...also depends where you are and what you're using it for.

How much can you get the K02s for at Sam's Club? The cheapest I could find was about $900 for 285/75/16 at Costco when they happened to be doing a BFG sale, except they won't install them because they're larger than the factory size.

I found the Falkens for $624 shipped to my door in the same size from Discount Tire Direct. $16/tire install at Discount Tire

I love the K02. I just couldn't find a reason to pay $300ish more

My vote is for the ST Maxx. I have 25k on mine, rotated every 3000-5000 miles. And I agree with the post above that they are an AP tire.

Even the guys at my local discount tire said the KO2s are for mall cruisers :flipoff2:

There is a continuous gradient of tread designs from street tires to mud and the wider the lugs, then noisier they are. GY MT/Rs are a hybrid AT/MT design that are slightly noisier than my BFG ATs but do much better off road and especially in mud.

I really didn't want to like the BFG KO2's but I needed a set of tires. I was originally planning on buying KM3's but they're not available until 2018. Rather than buy the soon to be old tech KM2 I went for the KO2. Nothing but good things to say. Surprisingly civilized 315's.

I would say the Cooper ST Maxx is an AP tire All Purpose or a big lugged AT. It's a great tire.

love this picture! Are those 35's, or bigger?

Looks like it's all about preference as there are a few very good options. Friends that I wheel with have Duratracs, BFG MT's, BFG KO's, so I almost want to try something different :)

Think I'm leaning towards the KO2's, and it's a wash between the Cooper ST Maxx & the Falken WildPeak AT3W!

This next thought has been at the back of my mind, but I almost don't want to ask ;) How many of you running 35's have run 37" tires and gone back to 35's? If so, I would like to know the reason. Everyone says a bigger tire is better for off roading, but there seem to be so many downsides to it... possibly needing stronger axles/birfields, rubbing, needing a taller lift (I'm currently at @3.5"), needing to re-gear (I'm currently on stock gearing), etc.

Get ready to regear on anything more than 33s. It really again depends what you are using it for. That decides everything I think but it's hard to stay disciplined when big tires and a big lift just looks so rad!

I got 55k miles out of my first set of Duratracs on my dodge/Cummins heavy pig. Very regular rotations help. If you will encounter snow and ice, Duratracs are the tire.

Whatever you buy, let it be made in USA.

Regearing for 35s isnt necessarily a requirement. That being said, I have 4.88s with my 35s and absolutely love the combo. Drove around on stock gears and 35s for a few months beforehand though and while the truck did feel sluggish, it wasnt undriveable.

Duratracs but rotate them as they chop up fast. JMO

Love the Duratracs here in the Northeast. The 315/75R16 is a load range E tire, so pressure needs to be adjusted between comfort and load. That aside, they grip very well in a variety of conditions from rain, freezing rain, mashed potato snow, to packed powder. They're a good all around street tire. I have never taken them in the woods as I have a second set of tires for that, but for mild stuff I wouldn't hesitate.

It’s time for new tires, and I want to stay with an AT tire as I use the truck for family trips, and I prefer a quieter ride down the highway. I do enjoy some tougher trails, so want to make sure that I try and get the most suitable tire.

Is there anything better in an AT configuration, but is more aggressive off road than the BFG KO2? The tire size I’m getting is 315-75-16.

BFG KO2 are popular around here. But the KM/2 are excellent as well. Minimal road noise, and better on the rocks. Terrifying on icy roads, but do you deal with those in california? My KM/2 are quite old now, but still almost full tread. I had them siped and winter performance is significantly improved with the 1/8" deep siping.

I'd also consider the Hankook AT tires.
