WE HAVE A NEW SPONSOR!!!

B&B Tobacconists Bruce's Pipe Shop in Asheville NC is now Upstate Cruiser's official Cigar Sponsor!!! B&B is located @ 377 Merrimon Ave, Asheville NC 28801. David Barnes @ B&B is our main contact. His # is 828-253-8822. Feel free to give him a call and thank him for his sponsorship. Better yet, stop by, buy a cigar and thank him in person!

I tentatively plan on meeting on November 8th around noon for lunch near B&B. After lunch we will move on to B&B for a cigar for those who wish to indulge. David Davis recommended a nearby restaurant within walking distance but I can't remember the name right now.

ALSO - DOES ANYONE WANT TO DO A BRIEF "CRUSIN' THE PARKWAY" TRIP BEFORE LUNCH? WE COULD MEET AROUND 8 OR 9, GET 3 OR SO HOURS OF DRIVING THE PARKWAY IN, AND THEN MAKE OUR WAY TO LUNCH...

JP OR CHUCK (WHOEVER HAS THE BANNER) CAN I GET THE BANNER BEFORE THIS MEETING? DAVID BARNES ASKED IF WE WANTED TO STRING UP OUR BANNER.

TO A GRAPHICS PERSON - HOW HARD WOULD IT BE TO GET OUR NEW UC STICKER WITH A LINE WRAPPED AROUND THE TOP SAYING "OFFICIAL SPONSOR OF" AND "WWW.UPSTATECRUISERS.NET" AROUND THE BOTTOM? I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THIS TO PUT ON FRONT DOORS AND SUCH AT OUR SPONSORS.

Thanks needs to go out to David Davis who set this up. As a current member of Upstate Cruiser's you will get:

- 15% off any purchase of boxes of cigars
- 15% off any purchase of a pipe or tins of pipe tobacco.
- An Upstate Cruiser exclusive: purchase $100 worth of cigars and receive an extra $15 dollars worth of cigars. You select the cigars, or they will put a sampler pack together based on your "cigar level." Shipping a flat $5.50, plus no tax if shipped out of state.
- Invitation to all UC members to the annual B&B Christmas BBQ (usually a couple of weeks before Christmas). This is a covered dish event, withe the shop (i.e., me) providing the Q.

B&B specializes in first quality cigars which are shipped to their store weekly (unlike a bunch of the warehouses, which sell old stock and 2nds).

The Asheville area has had a growth spurt in members and this will be a great time to meet everyone, have lunch, and a cigar!

Also, on the 8th there is a special @ B&B. All Dunhill pipes will be at least 25% off!

Post up if you will be able to make it. Additional details will probably follow.

UPDATE!!!

So, I talked to the guys at B&B Tobaconists and they have sweetened the deal for our meeting on Saturday November 8.

On that day only, they will also take 10% off any cigar purchase. (They don't normally do this as the markup is very small).

Also that day, factory representatives from DUNHILL will be at the store doing a "pipe show" on Dunhill Pipes. (These are really great pipes) There will be substantial discounts on these if you are a pipe guy (or gal). (Yes, Ladies, I can help you find a pipe that is fashionable ;) . . . .)

The homestyle restaurant (that sells beer also!) is right next door as is called PICNICS. I will talk to the owner and let him know we're coming. Here is a link. Picnics Restaurant & Bakeshop - Gourmet Pies, Cakes, & Homestyle Cuisine

You will want to park in the lot ACROSS THE STREET as it will be empty. Just look for my 40 and park there.

Are you up for a little parkway jaunt beforehand?

I am in for a Parkway Tour! Perhaps we can meet at the NC Arboretum (the closest point for those coming up from SC) and travel North toward Ox Creek. Come down Ox Creek or the Elk Mountain Scenic Highway and then head to lunch. Midway on the Parkway, we could stop at the Folk Art Center, which is really cool.

Sounds good to me. You know the parkway better than I do.

Sorry for the intrusion but I wanted to let you all know that both Steve and Marshall have been kind enough to invite me to this get-together. Sorry to say (I know, here it comes...), I'll be in Knoxville on 11/8 for the Tennessee-Wyoming game. If my plans change (possible, I may have gnashed my teeth enough over UT football by then ), I'd be honored to join you. And of course, I very much appreciate the invitation.

I know basically where the cigar shop is -- are you having lunch at Picnics? If so, try the wood-roasted duck if they have it. That may be just a Friday menu item though.

Adding fuel to the fire . . . .

I just talked to B&B . . . they are going to have a mini free raffle for UC members, with some cruiser and cigar appropriate prizes!

Todd - - hope you can make it. Now might be a good time to miss a UT game.

The wood roasted Duck is great. I think they have it on Saturdays too. The chicken soup is great too. And don't forget to say hi to the "Pie Lady."

I will be up at the folks place in maggie valley so I plan on making it and most likely will have the family in tow

thanks to David and Steve for putting this sweet deal together

Still up in the air for me and mine. Do they have a TV for those of us who haven't cut the college football umbilical cord?

Steve- -

There are Two owners, who will both be there on Saturday. Maybe a bag of Cruiser Turbo Coffee and maybe a hat or something with UC on it. By the way, David, one of the owner's has a new lab pup named "Cruiser."

They display hats, patches and memorabilia throughout the shop of the groups they sponsor or support , i.e., lots of Special Forces displays from Iraq and Afghanistan. (Ok, Alex, you gotta come now . . . sort of a SF reunion . . . and bring your knife mate!)

Carp, not really a TV kind of place . . . more of a shoot the bull kind of place. Tivo man, Tivo.

Be sure to poke around downtown some. Check out the local craft brew scene.
