Hello
I've purchased suspension system from MAN A FRE To be mounted on my 1983 fj40 the kit was Arrived but with no instructions manual . I want a way to install . the necessary measurements , and the necessary equipment to be installed.
I hope to help me because I am puzzled how Start Thank you

That kit has shackle reversal brackets for the front leaf springs. You will have to remove the stock fixed and swing shackle hangars from the frame and weld in the new shackle hangars with the swing shackle in the rear (opposite stock). Welding on the frame needs to be done with a 220V welder and hopefully somebody who knows what they are doing.

Your shackle plates are bolt together and replace the stock shackles front and rear. You also have extended brake lines, probably for the rear end? New bushings and U-bolts. All pretty self explanatory.

From Man-A-Fre's website......How To for the shackle reversal

If you've never done this before, take pictures before you dismantle anything on your rig. It all goes back together the same way it comes apart with the exception of the front springs, they will be reversed since you are doing a shackle reversal.

read up on the pros and cons of a shackle reversal before you do it - you can use these springs without a shackle reversal, too

I placed an order for those springs last month and MAF called me to state they no longer have a spring mfg for the mojavies.

Dave- I know you were looking for another spring source; any luck so far?

using your existing shackle mounts and spring hangers

No one will build them cheap enough for a retailer to be interested in buying in. Dakars seem to have the market. The US mfg's can't compete with Malaysia so the market for a spring that costs 50% more is not realistic. The buy in for a wholesale cost that would be competitive is about 100 pair springs. It would take a couple years for the reputation to build to where 100 wouldn't sit on a shelf for two years. The Cruiser market isn't growing so the two retailers, Man-a-fre and Specter, that are big enough to take that jump probably won't consider that a wise investment. Until someone has the money laying around to sit on we just have to build them one off at about 250.00 plus per spring or deal with the rough ride the existing springs offer.
