Someone else needs to try this and report back. I call BS otherwise.

I don't get it...

The bumpers cut in this thread have the exact same approach angle as they did before. The only thing that changed would be clearance of the tire on the inside edge of the bumper. In that case, it would be for tire clearance and not off road approach clearance. And if that's the case, then I call BS because my 34" tires never rubbed the front bumper once before I put my ARB on. That's on road and off. Pinch weld, sure, but not the bumper.

Y'all out here hacking up your trucks to look like pre-runners without actually adding any benefit...

Another shot from further away

Prerunner style ✊

Maybe if you took the cut up to the top/outer corner of the bumper it would look right.

Yeah it still looks just ok to me. It will most likely progress to that area as well. I figure since it has to be repainted anyway that I can mess around with it. Worse come to worse I can just grab another one

It looks fine as is to be honest. Plus you don’t wanna cut off too much (you found the sweet spot), might be a negative affect on the MPG gain if you cut off any extra.

hmmm. Seems the insanely huge 4Runner bumper lends itself to cutting better than the uzj100. I don’t think it looks bad, but I guess we’ve seen what it truly looks like and how there isn’t an approach benefit.

Not sure about those lines... I think a more natural transition (double/opposing radius) might've looked better. But the material to do that hit the pavement ;)

Maybe soften the transition a bit - just round out that point

And since you've got the saw out, get the metal blade and...

Ooh I see what you did there! The only issue is that I would have to completely remove the front crash/crush bar to do that. But I absolutely like it. Appreciate the chop

Maybe not. The lower 1/4 of that reinforcement bar can be removed. Looks like a few bolts holding the lower strip on (and maybe a rivet or two to drill/cut out). Would get you another inch of clearance and nominal exposure of the rest of the bar below the cover cut line on @Manhattan photo.

Don't mind the bended part but notice the recovery point and the bar are at roughly the same level. Unless I take the whole bumper off and move the bar up half an inch maybe

Your reinforcement bar is a much different design than mine. Weird. Mine has angled wings and a 1-1.5” tall metal strip along the bottom that can be removed.

I don't mind cutting it and leaving just the middle to protect the radiator and everything behind it. I'm going to take the bumper off and see if I can attach it further up.

What about removing that O.E. bar and replacing it - stout but lower (okay, higher) profile. Note the relative heights...
