they have scrubbers on the trucks now ...

Why would they have fat chicks on them now

i heard it from Brian at Ens Industrial a few years back.
it seems one of the mines decided that the Toyota's were too expensive so they tried the NA diesels.
pretty soon they were ordering toyota's again...

Ive heard the same story here. Some of the larger mines tried a range if vehicles from cheap Korean and Indian vehicles ,F series and Chev trucks,Landrover and Mogs and they all end up back on Toyotas doorstop.
There is also a bit of resistance from the workforce about using non toyota as well:D

Hey Wayne - The scrubbers are for underground.

Vehicle maintenace in the diamond mines gets contracted out to Kingland Ford. All surface trucks are powerstroke, but underground is EMS Toyota ONLY. This is partially due to size, but the quote on the engine hours being 10x the domestics is true. Mines in the North tried to use Fords because - well, your in the middle of the Arctic. Parts availability? Even at tripple the cost and additional parts inventory, all the mines switched to Toyota. Proof?

The underground 70's only have 1st and 2nd gear to stop people from speeding. So the 10x figure is based on the engine having the sh!t rev'ed out of it 24 hrs a day, non-stop.

Edit: I'll post some pic's when I get home
