Some people never learn, this is from the same rock, the same obstacle on Spike that bent it in may!:whoops:  :D

Dang Kevin you may need to pick another line or get a stronger bumper :D .

Looks like you guys were having fun. I love the Moab area. Not only is there great scenery and adventure, but there is some really cool geology.

Unfortunately it seems that Kevin keeps moving the geology around out there. Might need to get the rock police after him.

I learned that when on a scenic drive, watch for undercut washouts! Very surprised that I drove out unassisted, yes it was that deep, the tire never hit the bottom!:whoops: :D

Sue now knows why YOU need extra protection:flipoff2:

On Saturday we ran Spike with the blazers. The event name, blazer bash is very well chosen, I have never see that much carnage in one day! The welder was in action twice, broken driveshafts, diff gears, twisted axle housings, leaf spring, clutch linkage, trans mount, carb, starter and many more than I can recall! It is now called spike marathon, trail time was 13:05 we were stopped for 8:30.

Still had a great time and the cruisers never missed a beat. Early on there were many bets on when the cruisers would break or have to be recovered, but that didn't last long!

A shot of Michael's new bumper and Rob.

Nice shots Kev! Who doesn't like some crack?

The crack isn't that hard, our trucks walk right over it. But it's a love/hate thing, so the comment "just say no to crack" was popular and funny at the moment.

We spent a couple of days on the way home touring SE Utah. It's going to be a few day before I get time to go through the pix and post (took 200+ pix yesterday!), but want to share these now.

We were about 3/4 of the way up Moki Dugway and met this rig coming down, stopped him in a switchback blocking the highway and swarmed over his rig. He is from Germany, touring the states and South America for a year. Very cool rig, factory winch, snorkel, OME suspension, custom RV box.

Hopefully Michael, Claudia and Brittan will post their pix and experiences. I had a frickin blast and cant wait to go back in may.:D Now suffering serious post Moab withdrawals and have to work.:crybaby: :censor:

Finally got home after weather-related air traffic trouble in Chicago - maybe it was the same storm that hit us in Moab?

I don't have nearly as many pics as usual, due to playing trail leader and spotting a lot, but besides 'wheeling, I also got some great workouts from (literally) running back and forth on the obstacles. Top of the World was a neat little trail, and the view from Killer Overlook was fabulous but difficult to capture with the camera due to the clouds and muted colors. Hell's in the rain was quite an experience, and we had a close call at the very first fin - the line's to the right, and bad things can happen to a truck on the left.

Golden Spike was indeed exhausting, great 'wheeling, but some broken trucks meant a lot of time waiting. The real problem was a single vehicle that lacked one piece of equipment that is critical on 'Spike, and for that matter, on any trail: someone behind the steering wheel who can drive...and I guess I need to pick a few brains of the CruiseMoab organizers on how to check for that at a tech inspection. I learned a few things as trail leader personally, and several organizational issues will be different next year if I have any say in it...

Sunday's run on Sevenmile Rim/WipeOut Hill turned into a great CSC run (Kevin, Rob, Claudia, and myself), with most of the K5 crowd either on Fins or in Area BFE watching on Coyote. I finally got to drive WipeOut Hill after only getting a look at it last year, and I thought it was a blast! Claudia stared down one arrogant Jeeper who was trying to enter the obstacle while Rob was still in the obstacle and me spotting him - I haven't seen anything like that before.

We spent parts of Monday and Tuesday driving dirt roads in southeastern Utah on the way back to AZ. Our initial plan was to drive south via Lockhart Basin, but inquiries at the Moab visitor center revealed that the trail may not be in existence after the hard rains - we'll find out some other time.

And regarding the red dirt, I spent 2 hours and $40 in the car wash on Wednesday...

Maybe 10 mph? Like that bumper and hitch impression in the close side?

since I was right behind I feel qualified to comment - 25 mph was more like it :D

Maybe, but we were cruising 25-35 mph on the road and I got in the brakes pretty hard for the washouts? This one more than normal, I remember Sue saying something about "DEEP!", but I wasn't worried, it was only about a foot wide.:whoops:  The front made it across just fine, the rear was a bit of a let down!:D
