And.....you might ask why the rear was extended 7"...somethin' made that necessary. ;)

"Don't go a Ninja-in' when you don't have all the facts....out yonder.;)

Nope. I wouldn't ask why the rear was extended. Longer is better. I'm sure you hear that often. :)

Nice lookin' truck, peterson.

Did you end up taking your truck home, or did you leave it at Poser Hospice?

My truck and I needed some separation..... we (my truck and I) decided it should spend some time at Steves house and think about all the problems it has been causing me..... I am going down there soon to "work on it" and/or pick it up.... Steve is too busy on Vince's Lexus LX450 to spend much time on it at this point... so it will be a good excuse to go see him again and drink some more whiskey... :D

Rumor has it Millhouse re did my power steering the other night..... :bounce::bounce2:

I did tear down the intake junk off it and found out that it was warped, Steve said he could drop it off at the machine shop down there for me and get that fixed....

Also I took the dizzy and junk off a few junk 60 series that Steve had sitting in the back... and we might go that way.... not too sure..... waiting on what steve thinks..... but wait till we get the gasket back on there... Thinking I might go there tomorrow and work, if I can...

Hey Aaron where were you 4 wheeling in your vids, was it close by?

Red Wing MN so it is about 4 hours south of us here

:D:D:D:D:D ran it last night for 30 min about....:grinpimp: runs very good, seems very smooth at idle (only took it to about 1500 RMP and that was just for a second)..... I have a video of it, currently having a hard time getting it off my camera, so I will post it up as soon as I can...

Is there something different with the 2F than a 350 chev? Normally with a Chevy with new cam you have to break in the cam by running 2500-3000 rpm for at least 20 minutes straight before you go to idle.

I did also do this the next day, based on my last engine problems I did not want to take the engine too high of RPM right off the bat, this is my own theory, take it for what you will....

No offense intended, but to run it 30 mins at idle on first start is not doing anything good for your engine. It's not easy mentally to fire an engine for the first time and take it to 2500-3000 rpm for 15-20 mins right off the bat, but if you want to help valvetrain longevity including cam and lifters, you really need to. The cam lobes have a very slight crown to them which causes the lifter to rotate in the bore. The cam is not the stongest steel and needs to be hardened. Depending on the valve spring pressue, running at idle with high pressure will wear that crowning off the lobes. Remember that when you are breaking in a cam, you are hardening the cam lobes and mating them to their lifter. That's why you never use old lifters with a new cam. Also, at least in Chev V8, the cam lobes are lubed with throw off from the crank. The higher rpm's help ensure sufficient oil reaches the cam. Only you know for how long you ran it and what rpm, but just idling it is not a good thing. Hopefully it all works out for you. BTW, I really enjoyed the build up details. I've been looking for a decent FJ and thought of rebuilding one until I saw all you went through. Luckily you have friends that have access to tons of knowledge and parts. Enjoy your creation!

Don't let any problems you have seen here stop you. They were caused by a bad engine builder. Everything else was about the journey to have the best, most unique vintage four wheel drive vehicle ever built. Do it.

Been up to a lot lately actually… I went and picked up my truck at Steve’s the Wednesday before the 4th of july. I was able the get some work done down there on things since I had some advise and help. Millhouse totally re did my power steering while it was there, guess he got bored one night, we took off bill’s bracket and used different one I bought from steve, pretty sure it is marks off road bracket, makes the pump mount lower and is an all around better design.

Got a new intake/exhaust gasket installed, works good. Carb was completely full of $hit, dirt, hair, and just garbage…. There are two filters on there before the pump, nothing after the pump. We changed all filters (see pics and see carb screen pics) don’t understand how a brand new fuel tank can be so dirty on the inside, I remember taking off the factory seals myself and as I hooked up the lines. Anyhow the new filter after the tank is already getting some garbage in it again, so I will change it again soon, hope to stop all the stuff, or I will have to drain it out and start pouring gas through it to clean it.

Got a new switch for the blinkers from Cdan…. Works wonderful now… so at least I know it is in the switch somehow.

We also put in a dizzy and igniter from a fj60 that I got from Steve, re timed it all and get it running really really well… got about 400 miles on it so far total and the last 200 since we finished working on it and now it is finally running how it was suppose to.

Steve, Millhouse, and Lemon were up over the 4th weekend and we got to hang out some, Steve and Shannon came to the lake with me on Friday and Saturday, so it was fun to have a few other land cruisers in town…

dont judge me on my dirty engine... when I took these pics I still hadnt cleaned dust off from redwing... you can bet is is cleaned up and detailed now. :flipoff2:
