Hey man, this is looking outstanding! Brings back lots of memories of when I rebuilt mine. Lots and lots of work. Just wanted to say I'm impressed.![]()
Cute dog....
Did you get that other leaf spring frame pin retaining bolt in yet?![]()
Let me guess....the Malibu Rum is for the g-friend when she comes over![]()
Looking good!
Couple of things to consider:
The fan is on backwards.
The heater outlet goes in the farthest back hole in the cylinder head, not beside the carb.
There are welded plugs and/or pipe caps in the air rail ports. Engine builder shoulda replaced w/ 1/4" allen plugs.
Why are you pounding in a main seal? Shouldn't a new engine come w/ main seals installed?
You're trying to fit a F alternator in a 2F bracket. That results in about 1" of adjustment, which is not adequate. Suggest popping the front off the alternators and switching so the F alternator has the 2F adjuster ear clocked in the correct position.
Take front view pics of the 2 alts for Poser, then he'll see why you can't get it to adjust.
Hey Ed, didn't we have a thread about that very topic a couple months ago?
The engine has a vac retard F distributor in it? At least use a 2F dissy, preferably something vac advance.
And last but not least:
Your kitchen project is way nicer looking than mine.
And I've been working on it for years...![]()
Good Choice. The rear main seal the engine builder was going to put in was not a Toyota one so I told him not to do it.
PM me. I've got 'em.I need to find the caps to plug the air rails... where would I get those???
Absolutely. but the correct bracket for an F alternator is an F bracket, and the engine is currently dressed as a 2F.I have been looking alot at how others have their alt. set up and I think with the correct bracket it will work.
W/ enough welding rod, all things are possible.I did order a curved bracket last week that I think I will be able to use to fab somthing that will work... so I will try that first...
It will work. But it is sub-optimal. The 69-74 USA dissys are the worst available. A 2F dissy is much higher quality, and a vac advance dissy will provide better driveability.I just ordered new points, rotor and cap for that dist. why do you think it will not work?
The heater outlet should be in the rearmost hole in the head.not sure what you are talking about for the heater outlet.... should it be where my water tem senders are located... (notice there are two..I want to get a new one and a plug for one of the holes..)
The heater outlet should be in the rearmost hole in the head.
The temp switch for the emission computer can be removed & discarded.
It's standard NPT. A large allen plug makes it look sanitary.Do I just plug it with a regular bolt or does it need a special plug to work correctly? what size bolt if that will work?
Been awhile since i checked on your progress. it is really looking good.
are you going to do the final paint or have a shop do it? I am on the fence but keep buying painting books and reading articles like this one
