Hey man, this is looking outstanding! Brings back lots of memories of when I rebuilt mine. Lots and lots of work. Just wanted to say I'm impressed.

Thanks man!!! where are pics of yours..

Also just wanted to say I poked some fun at my Friend Pete the other day for showing up late... but just wanted to say Pete has helped me more than any one of my friends ( not including Poser or my Dad) so far.. He has been there on short notice to help me lift things or flip the frame or what ever, a huge help, which has allowed me to move more quickly on parts of this project... Also I know Peter is a often reader and follower of my form, as he thinks one day I might let him drive this thing! hahaha! Thanks man!! You know I was giving you s***.. BTW :flipoff2: think you owe me lunch! :D

all I did on the cruiser this weekend was take the pully off my old engine and put it on my new one and line everything up to make sure it is going to work... My dad helped me yesterday...

Then we put in a cabinet that he made for my house... Pic to come of that... it looks great! I have alot of stuff to do on the house this week so not much cruiser time... I did order some stuff I need from Cdan on friday so that should be here mid to end of the week... so I hope to have a huge dent in the house stuff by then so I can get back to my real stuff..

While my dad was here we also made more plans for the shop I am going to be building.. so far it is looking like 26x36... My dad has done all the pricing out of materials and everthing for me... I have to do the stuff with the bank this week so this can happen... I want to start on this as soon as the ground is not frozen... would be nice to put a huge dent in this in the spring when the temps are not too hot.... plus there is not much to do in the spring in MN..

Just a quick before and after of other kitchen stuff I did this weekend..

just need to clean it up and put another coat on the window trim

Let me guess....the Malibu Rum is for the g-friend when she comes over :)

hahhaha!!! no actually I think someone left it at my house like a year ago... but had to put it in the pic as I needed to fill the space :flipoff2: ;)

Looking good!

Couple of things to consider:

The fan is on backwards.

The heater outlet goes in the farthest back hole in the cylinder head, not beside the carb.

There are welded plugs and/or pipe caps in the air rail ports. Engine builder shoulda replaced w/ 1/4" allen plugs.

Why are you pounding in a main seal? Shouldn't a new engine come w/ main seals installed?

You're trying to fit a F alternator in a 2F bracket. That results in about 1" of adjustment, which is not adequate. Suggest popping the front off the alternators and switching so the F alternator has the 2F adjuster ear clocked in the correct position.
Take front view pics of the 2 alts for Poser, then he'll see why you can't get it to adjust.
Hey Ed, didn't we have a thread about that very topic a couple months ago?

The engine has a vac retard F distributor in it? At least use a 2F dissy, preferably something vac advance.

And last but not least:
Your kitchen project is way nicer looking than mine.
And I've been working on it for years...

The rear main seal the engine builder was going to put in was not a Toyota one so I told him not to do it... Then I should have ordered the correct one so he could put it in, however I forgot until I picked up the engine...

I need to find the caps to plug the air rails... where would I get those???

I have been looking alot at how others have their alt. set up and I think with the correct bracket it will work... but I never thought of taking off the front as you suggested.... Thank you at least I feel as though I have a few options... I did order a curved bracket last week that I think I will be able to use to fab somthing that will work... so I will try that first...

I just ordered new points, rotor and cap for that dist. why do you think it will not work?

not sure what you are talking about for the heater outlet.... should it be where my water tem senders are located... (notice there are two..:D I want to get a new one and a plug for one of the holes..)

Good Choice.

PM me. I've got 'em.

Absolutely. but the correct bracket for an F alternator is an F bracket, and the engine is currently dressed as a 2F.

W/ enough welding rod, all things are possible. :)
The 2F adjuster just needs an extension welded to the end of it so it can reach up around the F alternator.

It will work. But it is sub-optimal. The 69-74 USA dissys are the worst available. A 2F dissy is much higher quality, and a vac advance dissy will provide better driveability.

The heater outlet should be in the rearmost hole in the head.
The temp switch for the emission computer can be removed & discarded.

Thanks... I did get a dizzy with the 2F... think it needs to be rebuilt as it is shot... notice I did put at late model side cover on so I can have more options down the road.

I guess I need to do more research on which one to run... Since I ordered the stuff will probably get this one working for now...

what would happen if I do everything now... I will have to find somthing else to work on... :D

Do I just plug it with a regular bolt or does it need a special plug to work correctly? what size bolt if that will work?

Got some parts from Cdan today... however my flywheel dowels got left out... called Dan and he threw them in the mail today! so they should be here in a day or two, which does put off my clutch project for a few days, but... Also got my power steering pump today so I will be putting that on tonight... pics to come...

It's standard NPT. A large allen plug makes it look sanitary.

Think I am going to paint it myself... I already have the paint so guess if it does not turn out I will have it done... but I feel I will never be able to learn if I dont do it myself... Plus I dont want to be scared of paint like most people are....
