had a few more set backs on the engine today... seems the push rod Poser sent me is different that the ones in the engine now... Poser sent me the correct push rod for a F and earlier model 2F engine, seems the push rods that were in the engine are from a later model 2F (they are slightly longer and thinner) so I looked up my serial number to compare with the 2F data base here on mud and also at SOR... #2F087610 is the number and that seems to be from a late April-early May 1976. which I know the truck was a 1976 for sure as I did look at the vin plate but I just dont remember the month.

I just sent Poser a PM regarding this info also.. The debate seems to to use the older style push rod or use the newer style... Poser has found one of the new rods for me in his stash of parts... wonder if anyone else ever ran into this problem??

so I had to take half a day off work today to pick up my engine... I was too excited to work any more.. so after lunch I picked it up... spent the rest of the day painting it. I used Ed Long (degnol) paint colors. as I think they are cool as s*** :D and we all know Ed lives on the edge of cool!!!! :flipoff2:

any how I am glad I took ED's advise and cleared the whole engine after paint.... I want this to dry a whole day then I am putting it between the rails...

what do you think of the engine...

I spend time yesterday finishing up the paint and putting things on the engine. some of it I have to take right off again but I wanted to get some pic before this thing goes in today... my buddy (Furball) is going to be at my shop this morning to help me throw this thing between the rails... probably will not be that big of a project but I am glad he is able to help me as is was difficult enought getting this thing out of my truck and onto the stand by myself... Poser is sending me up some parts (if he has not already) the rear main seal that the builder got was not a Toyota one so I just told him not to put it in and I will get a Toyota one.... he is also sending me a new Thermostat and the gaskets to go with those.

here are the last pics of the engine on the stand... tonight pics in the truck (I hope!)

Can't wait to see it in --- That engine is shining up nicely -- nice colors.

well I have to start out by thanking Furball for stoping over and helping me... we did about 1 hour or work and messed around the rest of the day.. it was a good time... My other friend Peter stoped over just in time to do NOTHING!!!... thanks man!!! :flipoff2: just kidding... Pete I know you are in tears by now... hahahah!!!

any how as you can see from the pics we got the engine in... took the intake and headers off first then we lifted off the stand put the bolts in to hold on the bell housing and then dropped the engine in.. had minor problems getting it to fit but we figured it out quickly..

Furball is currently trying to get his race car ready for the spring trials, so I know he has tons of work to do, so the fact that he stopped in (on time pete!!) to get this done means alot to me... thanks again!!!

WOW! Amazing progress. Nice work!

You have made a ton of progress in a very short time. I've started taking more pictures of all that I am doing because of it.

Thanks for sharing.

this is a beautiful build-up. Good job!

is it me, or does it look like the bolts holding the engine on the engine stand are going to snap any minute? Ive always seen the engine snugged up to the tubes, or some spacers used. It made me nervous.

you are correct... they are the wrong size.... I dont think they would snap... but I would use smaller ones next time...

The top of the thermostat housing needs to be flipped 180*.......but other than that, COOL!;)

Ed

yea I noticed that but since Poser is sending me that Theromstat along with a few other parts, I was too lazy to change it now...

Thanks Ed!!!

yea I bought 3 cans because I did not know... think I started using a second can but not really needed... the other color is alum. and I also got a few cans of clear coat... I would do it again for sure...
