starting the research .does anybody know of someone or a place that will receive and install a metal tech cage in washington ,i'm in Canada , looking at purchasing a cage but need someone to install it ,and i don't want to pay the extra shipping charges ,duties ,taxes ,and brokerage fees , that i would have to pay by shipping the cage to Canada . anybody ? hopefuly not to far south of the canadian border , any info would be appreciated i have not contacted metaltech yet , just doing the research .

Jake .

Fly me to canada or Wash or wherever and I'll do it. Probably cost you less than the shipping.

Why not ship it to somewhere south of the border and then just go pick it up. Made in th USA you only pay the gst. Let me know if you need an address .I do it all the time.

thanks too tall , i will keep that in mind i would need an adress in the u.s. this option ,i will probably do when i save up the money ,i can handle the gst ,but now i need someone to install it ,i don't trust my welding for the roll cage , thanks for the info . i did see a installer on metaltechs website in washington ,

BigRocks Offroad
7613 NE St. Johns Road Suite C
Vancouver, Wa. 98665

but i would rather get it done in Canada ,save me the hassle of driving the rig down there , thanks again , i do get alot of stuff shipped to general delivery in blaine (post office ) but i don't think they would recieve a order that heavy

Give Mark a call and he will be able to give you shipping quotes. He uses more than one company to send out orders.

Dude - the address you listed is in Vancouver US. If you're going to drive to Vancouver, why not drive the extra 10 minutes to MetalTech and pick it up there?

Have you talked to Steven Tetu at Extreme Bends ( http://www.extremebends.com/ )? I think he maintains a shipping address in Bellingham for such occasions since he's pretty close to the border. I don't think he'd have a problem installing someone else's cage.

I don't want to diminish the value of the metaltech cages. \
They are an excellent produce at an excellent price.
If you can weld it together yourself.

I live in Utah, and after figuring in buying the cage, shipping it, and having a competant welder put it together for me, I found that I was going to pay MORE for a metal tech cage than having the same shop buy some tubing, bend up a cage and install it.

That said, IIRC metal tech is located in washington, drive the truck to Metalttech, and have them install it there.

pbgbottle.... Call Jason or Trevor at S&N Fab (360) 435-9040. They are located in Arlington, just east of I5. IMO they are one of the top 5 shops in the rock-crawling buggy business. If you want outstanding welding that is just south of the border, they would be you best bet.

That's a referal I would trust. Thanks for the imput Jack.:)

Jake,

I have shipped a few just south of the boarder that have been picked up and brought in. Metal-tech is registered with NAFTA and has a Canadian BN number so we can do full import into CAN. However you are correct the brokerage fees are crazy. (Just filling out the paper work for NAFTA is crazy! I have shipped MT parts to Japan easier!) What ever works best for you just let me know and I will do everything needed to make it happen.

jake, would there be much of a discount for a mini group buy? say maybe 3-5 cages.

Absolutely. Not only will you get great savings on shipping (like half the normal cost) , any order 3 cages or over will get a discount.

I am sure there are some shops that can make a cage for less than, purchase + shipping + install from Metal-tech, there always will be someone less expensive some ware. Metal-tech was born because there are not a lot of shops out there that will build as custom of a cage just for our Landcruisers.

Metal-tech builds only LandCruiser cages and parts, and nothing else. All tubing is US made and strictly controlled from the mill to MT, maintaining quality. Metal-tech supports the TLCA (member #1137), IH8MUD (one of the first advertisers on MUD), and many Landcruiser events every year. Perhaps #1 reason: Metal-tech is owned buy a guy who is a Cruiser owner first and a business owner second.

Metal-tech is located in Newberg, Oregon. (45 min SW of downtown Portland OR)

X2

If you're looking for a shop to do the install for you and S&N is even remotely convenient, they come highly recommended. Jason and Trevor are top-notch fabricators in every sense but are definitely willing to work with you when it comes to saving you money by letting you do some of the work/parts aquisition. That's a rare combo.

I've never had any work done there, but if I was ever going to pay anyone to do something for me, it would be them. I've stopped by their shop numerous times just to see what they're working on and chat. If I ever get rich and decide to build a buggy, they will be building it for me.
