Thanks for the tips everyone. I'll keep them in mind. Is it necessesary to have frame tie ins? Im thinking mainly for on-road safety.

Chattfj40: Todd you’re the poster child for the “have at least your doors on when you install the cage” we say now! (ok you a poster child for a few other things, but that’s another thread!)

Mark

Yeah well, ain't that the truth. I'm sure you added the pics I sent you to the instructions you send out!:flipoff2: Hope we'll be seeing ya in a couple of weeks in Texas!

As to Mark's point with the A/B piller, here's my evidence that it's well designed....once I got the A-piller past the damn tree:D (2nd pic)...Also a good reason NOT to powdercoat the cage....

Must have been some kind of tard that fitted that cage....

As I recall it was two tards working together who managed to pull it off:grinpimp:

Yes, its always a good idea! Attaching the cage to the frame will make the entire truck more rigid and help with frame flex.. And in the event of a High speed rollover it may be the difference between a bad day and a Horrible day.

Ain't none better than Metal Tech!!!!!

Well, "on road safety" might include going 70 over black ice at night, or getting T-boned by a drunk teenager in one of those Ford or GM tanks, or any of a million other high speed situations. It's an extra 40 bucks or something. Don't be penny wise and pound poor. ;)

I love mine as well. However... I put the MAF long range tank in and head clearance became an issue.

I don't plan on running a hardtop and in hindsight would have liked the pillars a few inches taller. It is a great kit and a wonderful product no complaints there.

I overcame the clearance issue by having the seat mounts super low. Got pics on the last 2 pages of my build thread.

Buy it and don't look back!!!

How much are the tie-ins?
I don't remember seeing them on the website.
I was going to have some bent up but if the work's already been done, so much the better. I'm probably leaning towards the family cage, but like the original lines of the stock bar set up as well. I was figuring I'd bend up a piece to bridge between the rear elbows.
Its a difficult decision. Not based on cost though. I won't have anything in the rear and I think I'll have to ditch the long jumpseats regardless.
I wish the same radius could be bent so that I could keep the factory pads.

i just pulled the trigger,

got off the phone with mark.

ordered everything that can be ordered.

i cant wait

I managed to keep the long back jump seats. I flipped them side to side and cut off the arm rest and made some legs that pivot down. They work great and you can get people on both sides and still have room for their legs. I haul people back there all the time for work. My 15 year old is 6'4'' and he sits back there all the time.

Front frame ties are $39.95

Rear frame ties are $44.95

The long rear jump seats are hard to get around without sacrificing strength. You can change them to the smaller jump seats and build some brackets. Otherwise I would suggest going to a bench seat in the rear.

Hey LT, got a question. Bought the Jackson cage and have it in the rig. We still have to weld in the frame tie-ins. (I was the one that called today about the tube that was left out) Fronts, no problem. Back tie-ins seem useless unless you have the full cage. The back bars seem like they would fold up in a roll. We are stil going to put them on but don't see that they will do much good. Am I wrong on this? There really doesn't seem to be a way to install them on the main hoop.???

Thanks!

It would be best to attach the rear frame tie to the B pillar. If you have problems trying to fit the frame tie around the tire you will have to cut it at a funky angle. But you can still get it in there.
