Not sure what we're bringing, watermelon is always good. Work is way ahead of schedule and we should be able to meet up with some of you on the Friday caravan.

I would truly appreciate anyone that has a SWR tuner to bring it along and help me dial in my new CB.

Is the swimming hole big enough to warrant a kayak?

Really looking forward to this one!

-Bill

Hmmmm I'd like to watch you Kayak! :D I bet it's big enough to hav some fun, but I don't kayak.... soooo

Some of the river looks like this:

And the swimming hole kind of looks like this:

The swimming hole is long and narrow.... There may be some rapids big enough to have a good time in if you go looking....

i brought a kayak several years ago. never took it off my truck. For a serious ww kayaker there is not really enough water flowing to bother with at this time of year. One good reason not to bring a boat is that I then can remove my Yakima racks instead of the trees removing the racks. I will also unscrew my radio antenna. We will bring a pork loin to cook in the propane powered grill, salad and a lime jello (with a bit of kick) for the adults.

More Sourdough and river pics

Did you have problems setting the date? Or is that 8 years from now ;)

I guess you didn't know that Russ isour official TLCA time traveler :). He scouts ahead to make sure conditions are good for our runs. Hey Russ, let me know if I'm going to pass out by the fire this year, in which case I won't even bother with the tent.

I've since adjusted the date. So there.;p

I'd be suprised if we have an actual fire but 'out by the fire', yes.

Jeff -- What's the current fire restrictions? Is charcoal BBQ acceptable right now?

Also -- you said we'd eat ~ 90 minutes after the last rig enters camp -- With 40 + rigs, what do you think the time margin will be front to back? 30 mins? 90?

I'm debating on cooking ribs, but if I cook them up there, I need 2 hours or so.. If I were at the front, it would be doable.

Thanks!

what he meant was 90 minutes after Tony enters teh camp, and I'll be leading this year. Those towards the back will probably have 5 minutes. :)

actually, we have never had this many trucks, hard to say at this point depending upon how stretched out we get.

We are going to entertain/offer ideas for expediting the group. Obviously, our 1st timers will want to thoroughly enjoy the ride, but a few 'regulars' may want to jump out front and blaze trails towards camp.

personally, I would not expect enough time to cook them at camp. Usually, we target the pot luck dinner about 1 hour after arriving in camp. However, precooked and then warming them up is possible.

For everyone else, I can vouche that Ross's pork ribs are an experience, for lack of a better description. They are simply freaking awesome. We want him to bring the ribs.

Ross, I am not cooking anything but will have stove, etc, you can use if you need more warm up space. I'm there for ya buddy.

Is it time to go yet?? I am starting to get that backpacker hype going. (you know, the excitement before a long planned trek.)

I'm Leaving Redding around 10 or 11 on friday, picking up my father in Medford then heading on to O'brien. My wife is not going to make it this year due to a pregancy. I'm thinking about bringing the 2yr old daughter, but I don't know if she can make it with just her dad. I don't if I can make it with out the wife. I need to figure out what to bring to the potluck. Anyways got to get unpacking the cruiser (camped this past weekend at Medicine Lake) and get it repacked. See ya Friday. Josh

FOOD......

Definitely Cook it first unless you can cook it as fast as something that can be heated up. Even if it tastes better unreheated it WILL taste great after all day on the trail.

KEEPING IT QUICK...

#1 - On a single track trail if one person stops then everyone stops. If someone has to stop that is fine, potty break, picture opps, snack retrieval but PLEASE Pull off the trail unless absolutely necessary. When parking to watch those on the difficult runs don't park on the bypass. Don't stop unecessarily (I think cutting trees out of the way is necessary ;) )

#2- Inexperienced drivers don't feel bad hanging in the back or follow an experienced driver in a similarily set up rig. Getting in a hurry can cost you more time / breakage.

Tony or Jeff, feel free add/take away...

man, anyone else still wrenchin'?

god i am an idiot, always last minute and of course work has been slammed so the OT is cutting into my toy time.
still have to R&R the trans and cases to replace the throw out bearing clip that somehow fell off during install the first time :retard:
and finish seat mounts, harness mount, brake lines, brake bleed, gear lube, a quick last minute thrash to check breakage and then cook and pack for the trip...............

all for an 8 hour bake and dust fest, man its going to be great :flipoff:
i can feel the smith now, nice.

I am still wrenching...a little, Aux lights, CB antenna, A?C retrofit. It should be good to go in time though. Nothing like the stuff you still have to do.

Matthew

My snorkel arrives tomorrow, not that I will be crossing any creeks but I do not want the cooler air out from the engine bay. I hope to have it done and not be running a large hole in fender instead. If I don't have it done maybe ArmyFJ will help after we swap his tires.
