12 days....

good idea on the car wash wooooody. I will have an on board shower set up if anyone needs it. just bring your own water. not much pressure to wash off rigs but it might come in handy if need be.

clint

Washing the undercarriage is good idea. If I understand correctly, they do not like to see large clumps of mud from prior runs in which the root disease can cling to, and travel out on.

Is there a "soft spray" or car wash somewhere near O'Brien? I'll wash before we go, but it might be nice if there was something close by.

Anybody heading through Grants Pass on Friday is more than welcome to stop by and clean their rig. I will be loading up and hanging out all day and a few of us will be heading to dinner that night as well.

How about ....

So are spider webs and dust bad too?

There is a spray wash at the gas station mid way through the town of Cave Junction (10 min from O'Brien) & one on the south end of 101 in Crescent City, so that would cover any last minute from north or south.

Pleas have all spiders wipe their feet at the door

1006399 seconds, we are almost down to a million people!!!!

Is the FJC trail team come again?

Sorry Jerod, they couldn't fit us in this year, though I did get some very nice messages from them & we got a good plug on the main FJC Forum. Comments like "THe McGrew was one of the favorite runs for the Trail Team in '06"

Just to screw with your vehicle breakdown, I'm taking the mini instead of the 40, Jeff

Is your son coming with you this year Bob? I believe it was you 2 that ran in front of us and were taking pics.

Yes, we got some good rain last night and today off and on..... very little lightning :D Not smokey at all right now, I hope the fire is about out. My step brother is a forest service fire fighter, and told me 2 days ago they had heard %50 containment on the China fire.....

No, Tony will be leaving for France Thursday right before McGrew. I told him "You can ALWAYS go to Paris, but McGrew is only once a year!" :-)
I'll probably be solo this year. I was hoping my daughter would go, but she's busy that weekend. We're planning a trip to the Sierra hopefully next month. That's the reason I bought the mini. So I could take the 40 and they could drive the truck.

So I guess I'm bring my 4 yo and 1.5yo girls. Should be interesting... my first sanctioned event and theirs. Are there decent places to set up a tent at the camp area?

Any hints on what to bring that might not be on the usual packing list?

See Y'all in a week and some!

Family friendly camping for sure, not a bad idea to keep an eye on them-encountered a noisy little snake last time I was down there. Sometimes firearms get discharged, especially by the locals.. I have never had any problems other than the usual problem one has with kids. Mine are 12,8 and 3.

Joel, lots of flat ground at camp, good swimming (Bring swimsuits!!!) I can't think of any not-normal stuff to bring...

Soap investigation.... says no soap of any kind in rivers or lakes, so we'll just have to scrub the old fashion way with sand and rocks :D

Jeff, what's the word on the campfire?

ummm.... nothing biodegradable degrades in water... especially soap.

at least I am pretty sure that is the case. A common misunderstanding perpetuated by over-zealous marketing, praying on the enviro fads of americans.

or something like that.

For the kids... entertainment. Its a full day of bumping and bouncing along. Suff to keep them busy and occupied both in the truck, and in camp.

Yes, we have definitely enountered locals and firearms. It is legal there, I have done it myself, but it can be a little disturbing to a large formal group with kids and dogs. Most have been amiable when asked to curtail during the dinner hour and evening.

one more week!

Need to know what the campstove/BBQ regs will be. Gotta figure out a potluck meal.

anyone have pictures from previous years showing the camping area?

Dogs on leash OK?

Gotta mount a fire extinguisher this weekend. and my CO2
