Maximum Size Tire For a Stock FJ75 P/U? (4 Viewers)

Just like the title says, what is the largest size/tallest tires that I can fit on one piece (non split) rim 16" factory steel wheels without having any rubbing? I searched both here and online and the range I am seeing is pretty significant.

Hello,

You can fit 33 in. x 10.5 in. tires with no rub. Anything taller or wider will rub; it may also wear your axle seals/bearings faster.

35 in. tires require a front axle modification.

I thought there were a couple of 75 series pickups in the MUD classifieds with 35x10.50r17 wheels on them.

This would prove the 35" tires work

From there, your choices are:

Squeeze a 315/75r16 on a 6" rim - will work but you (and I) will be hated

OR jump to a wider aftermarket wheel with your choice of 16" wheels (0 offset) from these suppliers below

Things will be VERY tight, but I think I am correct. Please research, it is your money not mine

Lots of great brands out there- most are aluminum. You would want 16x7 or 16x8

Another excellent choice is the 80 series steelies wheel in 16x7. Will need a spacer but looks great.

35" tyres will rub, I used to have them on my FJ75 with a 2" body lift and they still caught on the back of the front guards, I always found 33" tyres to clear ok, I'm running 33" now but still with the 2" bodylift

Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx come in that size. They are a bit aggressive but more of a Dura-trac copycat than a mud terrain. Supposed to be for all situations.

Such a great fit for 75’s

Although whenever I get my next 70, I think I’ll stick with a 255/85/16. A lot more availability in a pinch.
