I bought this '97 Collectors Edition last fall with 215K on the clock. It was well cared for by its previous owner in North Carolina, but needed some maintenance and personality - which I dove right into and have enjoyed very much.
Services from McIntosh Imports to get it ready for another 100K miles.
Let me make one thing clear, I do not regret a penny I spent on this truck. I had a vision of the FJ80 I wanted since I was 17, and at this point in my life I could make it happen. The intention was to keep it for a loooong time, so why not spend the money and do it right? I love this truck and look forward to every chance to drive it. Can't believe all the compliments and attention it gets!
The complication here is that the truck isn't ideal for the road trips work and life have me committed to take on a regular basis and garage space is limited. Clearly the truck is not ideal for long-haul interstate driving, so I'm weighing out options...
I'd like to do one of two things - sell/trade the truck and move up to a 100 (or maybe even a 200) - or just keep the truck, enjoy it and buy a $3K Volvo or similar for road trips. Its a rust-free CE in great condition.... Not perfect, but great. I figured I'd put the truck up here, if someone wants to pick up an excellent example of the last year of the 80 series at a premium, let me know and I'll be happy to take detailed pictures and explain every detail of this truck. Maybe someone has a well sorted 100? There's well over $15K sitting in this truck, and with the work I've done its ready to go for the long haul with the right person. So at this point, if you're interested and understand the value, send me a DM and I'll go over the truck in detail.
Cheers,
Alex
