Hey gents, I am looking for a new exhaust system. I am confused regarding the parts and cats... I am in California so I need my rig to pass smog. I am throwing 3 emission codes p0130 p0133 & p0401. I plan on having my CEL codes verified this weekend. Can someone point me in the right direction for the exhaust system please. Just don't want to order some that is not legal in California.

I agree I'm in the same boat, I need new Cali exhaust system. The links in the earlier post are no longer active. Does anyone have the links or a break down on what to buy?
Thank you

You need:
m/f447103 & m/f447217

$544+ tax IIRC

CA only
Thanks! I copied a pasted the part numbers into their search (upper left corner hard to find) and found the parts!!! Do I need 2 CC's or one is sufficient enough not to throw a CEL code? And also should I have the muffler shop build the rest of the parts?

Anyone know of a Y-pipe product without the cat?

I'll gladly sell you my pristine stock y-pipe for the price of a Magnaflow piece... I'll even cut off my stock cat and weld a bypass pipe in its place.:)

If your goal of eliminating the cat is to save money, then the cxracing option doesn't really pan out.

Do you have any experience with this product ?
I don't have emissions here in Fl. I need a complete new exhaust, I mean complete, including o2 sensors, studs, flanges etc etc. , from head to tail.Cant get the link to work for rockin4x4. Got a local powder coating shop that does really good ceramic coating too. I don't mind spending a few extra $$ initially to get it done right so it lasts. Also, any other options re exhaust tip exit to aid clearance ? Basically want to do right first time.

Rockin4x4 link went dead and they weren't answering the phone, so I ordered the y-pipe and 2nd cat from amazon.com Just showed up, and they look pretty good. We'll see when they actually make it onto the truck, 9 degrees out there right now!

Got them installed. Fitment was dead-on perfect. And they reduced my CO and NOX emissions by about 75% compared to what was on the truck before (maybe original 300k mile cats, not sure)

Thumbs up to Magnaflow.

I got my Magnaflow on amazon for 275. There was only 1 left at that price and I got it. Unbolted my 265k original with crack and the cat still looked good. My 2nd cat still looks great and that is even considering I have been throwing a P0401 code for the last 5k miles. Bolting it up to the remaining stock system tonight. Then I have to take it down and have a decent muffler and tailpipe put on. Very happy with the quality and appearance of the Magnaflow out of the box though. Now I just have to get the danged rear locker working again! Ah! The never ending joy of 20 year old cruisers.

If anyone is wondering this y-pipe fit my '94 like a glove. Let's me get rid of those side by side cats. Everything between the cat and muffler is custom though.

Can you toss up a picture of your install? I have a 94 and might have to go this route. Also where did you buy from?

Thanks,

Sure, let me get some daylight and I'll post a few pictures. I bought from Rockin 4x4, and from previous posts seems they're no longer in business.

Here are the pics of mine done tonight. everything bolted up great. I did replace 2 studs but that was by choice. Lathered everything in antiseize and went for it. no leaks and phenomenal fit. Very happy. I can post where I got my y pipe but I was the last one at 275 they are going for 335 on amazon now I think. One of my easier jobs on my 95 80. Difference between magnaflow and stock is amazing in visual. I never posted a pic of my stocker but if you look at your own stock y pipe and compare to the magnaflow you will see a major difference. I am still running the stock 2nd cat and muffler. resonator is gone. I noticed a difference in feel and in sound immediately. Very happy with the magnaflow. Granted I don't live in the rust belt but for the money it is a fantastic deal even at the mid $300 mark IMO

So what 250ish? And can the bypass remove both cats?

Should an exhaust shop be able to make a y pipe with no cats? I just want a straight pipe from manifold to muffler section. I wouldn't want to buy the magna flow and cut the cat off just to get the y pipe. I'll use the magna flow and delete second cat if that is cheapest. Or should a shop be able to make a cat deleted y pipe for cheaper than the magna flow? Thanks

Well, i just pulled the trigger on one of these. The prices have gone up since this thread started... cheapest i could find it was $325.

Also, i decided to go with the magna flow unit because i don't have faith in the flexible pipe connections on the other option that was posted earlier in the thread. I had a flex pipe in place originally when i re-did my exhaust and it rusted away quickly.

Jumping in on this never-ending thread with one question for the do-ers here: I see a few comments about the noise being louder than stock when using this Y-pipe and stock muffler/resonator. Anyone have experience to the contrary? I'm not hoping for a louder exhaust...
