Looking to replace the running boards with sliders. I'm looking for sliders that also function as steps, as the distance is just a bit too far for my fiancee to step down comfortably.

My go-to would be ARB, but it doesn't look like they make what I'm looking for. I don't really have any experience with any other off-road manufacturers - can anyone recommend me some?

Cheers

Look at the OPOR by Metaltech- those go on sale a few times a year. Another option would be to reach out Jason at TrailTailor (@reevesci) and see what options he’s got.

I bought a set from White Knuckle! Jon was great! Give him a call and he'll definitely help you out! I can say these sliders can take a beating! Make sure to get DOM!

. Agree 100% they build a great slider, I’d get the full top plate as it helps with the step function and keeps mud and such off the side of your rig. I’ve impacted mine pretty hard a couple times and someone hit my passenger side in a parking lot with no damage to the slider or vehicle.

Trip to the 100- FAQ would answer this.

My bad, I got digging into that thread last night, great stuff :)

I think those will be perfect! I'll get the diamond plate as well to help with the step aspect, thank you all!

Do you have any pics of your truck with those sliders?

I chose them over white knuckle because they are more flat for my kids. WK offered to lower the angle of their design but overall my decision was for my girls and how they were mounted. Can't go wrong with either.

I remember seeing a thread last year about a slider that mounted using metal plates welded into a U shape, that slipped over/around 3 sides of the frame rail, and then clamped using a normal (straight) bolt on the 4th side, instead of being a single metal plate against the frame rail and relying on a U-bolt for the other 3 sides. I've not been able to find the thread again - does anyone remember which company made the slider I'm referring to (no U-bolt)?

Sam

EDIT: Nevermind - it's Cruisin Off Road, and I'm not sure how I missed it so many times considering it's nearly the first pic in the Slider Pic Thread from the FAQ.

I have the OPORs from Metaltech on my LX. As previously mentioned, they're not steps, per se, but they've made it so my 4 and 6 year olds can get in and out of the car easily on their own.

Thanks to the guys posting pictures and first hand experience. Good to hear the OPORs are useable as a step for the halflings, I think that's the route i'll be going.

Have any of the LX guys retained the stock lights on the running boards? Not a huge deal, but they are useful in lighting up the steps in the stock locations. Perhaps there is a way to relocate them for sliders but still use the original wiring.

You will have to DIY it once the running board are gone, sliders or not. It's not complicated.

Cruisin Off Road no longer ships their products, which kills that idea. Was going to be steep shipping from Canada to Arizona anyways. Has anyone seen another slider that uses a wraparound bracket design instead of a U-bolt?

I have the MetalTech OPOR sliders on my LX and really like them. I added some skateboard griptape on the top of the tube and step plate which helps tremendously with "traction" in wet conditions. My wife is 5'3" and was NOT pleased with my decision to remove the running boards. The sliders have at least made her not as not pleased :)

Oh, and the rear kick-out saved my drivers side rear door once on a trail in Colorado. Had that kick-out not existed, I would have been the proud owner of an LX with a big dent in the lower part of that door.

Another vote for BIO. Even though they don’t have the “kick out”, they are a bit wider. They make for a better step for my fam and the width does the kick out thing.

I’m not sure how to link another thread but here’s a quote from TrailTailor.

@reevesci

All,

I chatted with Jason today and I'll be offering the mounting style like his in the near future as an additional option to the Trail Tailor sliders. I also plan to stock some of his other offerings like skids, etc.

More details soon.

Jason

Any update on this? This would also be my choice but I haven’t seen any update.
