I'll go ahead and post up since you probably wan't this done ASAP. The LX headlights have an extremely tight tolerance for bulbs. In other words you need to put the bulb in, and close the bulb clip half way so there is a little bit of pressure on the bulb. With the headlights on, CAREFULLY, adjust the bulb within the headlight until you see a full beam pattern. Once you are able to get the bulb positioned correctly fully seat the clip and your on your way. The bulb clip may slip underneath the base, that is normal, just make sure the return line (the outer metal wire) does not get damaged if the bulb shifts in the headlight. Work on the passenger side first, much more room to see and move around. I also advise running your wires like I have. Therefor if you need access to the bulb you can un-cap and remove the bulb easily. The only bulb I found that fully seated first time was the Phillips H1 bulb. Unfortunately the bulb is slightly longer than the Morimoto, resulting in very little light without excessive bulb spacers (in which you can't use on the LX due to the dust cap, tolerance level, and overall design).

Can you try and take a photo of the ballast? Should be mounted on the bottom of the headlight. I want to see which ballast Toyota used.

You need to do a total retrofit but yes it can be done.
Would love to see accurate night shots of this would be interested in doing a complete retrofit on my 90 series!

I've got a question, can a 03-07 LX headlight housing swap it's plastic front for the glass front from a 98-02 LX headlight housing? I'm assuming the only difference is the material used.

Do a complete retrofit & you'll get results like this. Nice spread, easily light up 7+ lanes. Razor sharp cutoff line.

You'll need the spacers.. the Morimoto wiring harness uses 9006 connectors that do not match the OEM connector...... I just bought two kits and just converted my fog lights last night and changed the connector....You may also want to buy 9006 extension cords which I'm ordering today in order to reach the far side ballast and headlight socket extension which were needed with the fog lights to reach the OEM plug ... Of course it's all based on where you plan on mounting the harness and ballast...Mount your wiring harness first before tearing into your lights.
Be very very careful removing the headlight trim. You'll end-up cracking it if you're not careful. The center piece directly under the grill comes out first...do not try and pry it up. You'll want to pull it straight out...For the trim around the lights.. pull back the trim from the top slightly and locate the mounting pins which are along the bottom...we used a long U-shaped end pry tool and slipped it right over the pin to release them.

So, I ordered the spacers with my Lenses so I'm assuming one (or a combo of them) will allow me to get to the desired 2MM.
But I'm still confused on the 9006 connector issue...
If I buy the H1 conversion kit, will it be plug and play for my LX? I'm not doing fogs right now, just the low-beam headlights.
Also, thanks for the trim tips! I just finished "baselining" my rig, so lights is going to be my first "play" mod now that the necessities have been adressed.
Your gonna need a dremel & get the metal grinding pad. After you open your headlight & remove the lens & bezel. It's 2 screws that holds the bracket that holds the projector in place. Remove it and the lens will pop out. Also it's a plastic spacer that can break easily. Be careful removing. There are 2 holes that needs grinded flush because the hid bulb is longer than the standard bulb. & it leaves 2 circles over the cutoff line. Pic 1 is the view you see once you remove the lens and bed. Pic 2 is what you have to grind off
Do led bulbs work with this sort of retrofit or would that not work

Save this link for the future and below is a picture and statement from page 3 of the link. I have a pair of OEM Lexus LED Projectors that I'm going to see if I can fit them into the LX headlights. I haven't opened them up yet to check out the bulb ... that might be the only way to get the same sharp cutoff as the HID

So, I started on my TSX-R swap last night!
Unfortunately on of the lenses showed up cracked across the center of it. :/ I still mocked it up and tested it, and we're looking pretty good!!
I reached out to TRS so I'm hoping they can rush one out to me so I'm not stuck with the car open for the next few days.

For some reason, though, the bulb has to be "finetuned" as 2000UZJ describes at the top of this page in order to get the cutoff just right... you'll see what that means when you attempt your own retrofit!
