I'm in that group but haven't seen any activity in the last month. Ymmv.T'eyes tech support is offering to add me to the WhatsApp group where their engineers can be reached directly apparently. I know that group had been mentioned here a few times. Anyone that's part of it, has the grounding issue been brought up to them?
I was one of the first people in that group a while ago. @cryptyk probably too. I was pushing Teyes pretty hard about the hiss/grounding issue. So, yeah - I think that's more or less what started it. But, after months, it didn't get anywhere. Like has been mentioned, the only possible solutions and ideas were coming from the Mud people like @Cryptic who were involved. At least that was my take. I didn't see any kind of solution coming from Teyes, so, I sent the unit back a long time ago.T'eyes tech support is offering to add me to the WhatsApp group where their engineers can be reached directly apparently. For what it's worth, Teyes sent me a noise filter isolator that I installed and it didn't do anything for me. Hopefully you will have better luck! Please keep us posted with your results!Hello Everyone, I've been following this thread for about 2 weeks now and finally made an account to add my two cents.
I have a 2006 LC 100 with the navigation and the "hum". I knew absolutely nothing about audio systems before buying the teyes CC3 option "C" , but i'm a quick learner. Here are the steps I took to try to fix the "hum".
1.) I tried ferrite core rings and clamped them on everything on my head unit to reduce high frequencies. No Change.
2.) I then had an audio friend look at the wiring and he suggested I splice two RCA cables to the teyes audio cables, then connect them directly into the teyes RCA cables. This would make the audio have a more clear path to the amp, idk? But this caused the "hum" to be replaced by the infamous alternator whine (even more annoying hum). So this definetly did not fix it but I think it was a step in the right direction.
3.) I then bought a RCA ground loop isolator thing previously mentioned on this thread and plugged it in-between my makeshift RCA connections. It did nothing.
4.) I then bought a noise filter isolator. I have high hopes about this working, but when I went to install it, I left the battery connected bc I figured nothing would happen, (lesson learned). as I was crimping one end, the other end touched a ground and made a pop/click sound. I finished wiring it up hoping nothing happened but the teyes head unit would not turn on after that. I'm almost certain I fried the noise isolator and now my head unit is not getting power. I'll take the isolator off and see if the head unit powers on, the head unit was not connected when I fried the isolator so the unit should be fine. Tmrw my new noise isolator comes in and I'll reinstall the new one. I'll let ya'll know if this fixes it.
Oh I see what you mean now. Nice work . I assume plugging another source into the rcas on the harness would cause the same distortion.
I have aftermarket amazon SKAR 12ohm speakers that the previous owner installed.Oh I see what you mean now. Nice work . I assume plugging another source into the rcas on the harness would cause the same distortion.
When you say aux input, is that an aux input on the truck? That should definitely work if you have one.
Do the LC speakers have the weird speakers that are like 6 and 13 ohm or whatever? If it has normal speakers, the simplest fix would just be replacing the factory amp with aftermarket.
I'll try to find something with RCA's to Aux and plug in my phone. As for the noise filter, i'll definetly try that if the noise comes backThat's awesome it went away - I suspect it's also not "solved" because I'm assuming everyone else already plugged all the wires in the right spots.
Real quick on the noise filter. I don't think placing it between the teyes and the harness is the right location. I don't believe the noise is coming out of the Teyes unit. The teyes is not causing the noise - it's the way the harness is wired.
You can verify this by plugging something else into the RCAs. An Ipod, a CD player, etc. I suspect that ANYTHING you plug in will have the same noise problem.
I think that IF a noise filter would work, it would need to be just before the amplifier or even on the speaker connections post-amplifier. In any case, the noise filter is a bandaid and not addressing the root problem.
Grounding the speakers is safe. The hypothesis around grounding the speakers is that the harness that comes with the teyes only provides speaker signal on the positive side of the speaker wires. This didn't impact the LX because the LX amp has a shared ground where all the speakers connect. The LC does NOT have a shared speaker ground so the belief was that wiring up all the speaker negatives would fix any ground hum/hiss. Apparently there's more to it than that, though.
But just to be super duper clear: I don't believe the problem isn't the Teyes Headunit. The problem is the harness that comes with it. The noise is not generated by the teyes. It's generated somewhere downstream of that. Best way to verify is plug something else into the RCAs.
