On my upcoming legs of the FJ40 Cross Country Expedition I'll be driving my mostly stock '76 FJ40 (it has an H41 with 3-speed transfer case and 4.11 differentials) primarily on paved roads or decent gravel/dirt roads. The stock suspension doesn't really sag much as the vehicle only has a little more than 64,000 original miles. Also, the shocks are in pretty good shape. I'd like to benefit from some "rubber overdrive" on the predominantly flatter sections of the trip. I bought a set of five 70-Series 16" wheels and BFG LT235/85R16 ATs (~32" tall) for my '86 FJ60 project vehicle and was thinking of temporarily mounting them on the '76. Will I experience any clearance/rubbing issues with this set-up? I know there probably won't be anything more than moderate flexing of the suspension, but I want to be careful. I guess I could always give it a try around the neighborhood, but thought I'd ask here first. BTW, I'm thinking of adding an OME suspension from Cruiser Outfitters (where I got the lift for my '86) to the '76 later this year, and maybe buying a set of 70-Series wheels and the same tires for it as well.
