G'day guys I'm part way into a ford nine inch mod to make a six wheel drive (extending pinion through the center and out the back) to drive a second diff, We use a nine inch because the pinion is low enough to clear the internals. I'm keen to see if there is any other diffs that can be used so if you know another diff that can be used some info on them would be grate thanks

Check with Jason at Trail Tailor he is building a 6x6

I believe scs makes a box for that. They are primarily a monster truck drop drive case and some ultra4 cars run their cases. Check out their site. The straight thru box goes on the front of the 9 inch where drive line yoke goes, drive line yoke moves to other side of scs box, scs box output for 2nd axle is over the top of 1st diff housing, as long as you have 5 or 6 inches of clearance above diff at full stuff.

AFAIK the other 6x6 projects on this forum use a driven front rear axle and the rear rear is a tag axle (tag-a-long) meaning not driven.

Np205s can be modified with I think np201 rear outputs to have dual rear outputs to drive two rear axles independently. I'm not aware of any Ford 9" diff that can accomodate a pass-through drive to the rear. If you make or find one, please share, because that'd be cool as hell.

I think peezy ment something like this .

He blocked me long ago lol. Got offended from something I said I guess and didn't want to see me anymore.

GLTHFJ60 thanks mate your talking 6x4 mate, mine was 6x6 done poorly in the way White stripe is talking about which means an early non floating hub diff was used, the backing plate was unbolted and a second third member was used they removed the bearing caps and ground out the rest of the journals leaving in the pinion, and bolted it in the rear which then drove in reverse, then the rear of the rear diff housing was removed and welded back on upside-down then the center put in up side down so it would drive the correct direction, and they couldn't work out why it was noisy, (the second pinion driving from the coast side of the teeth on the crown wheel causes it to be noisy which is ok for a shooting rig or paddock basher but not on the road) all the other pictures in the replies without the front box on them, are ford nine inch very close to what I'm building. Over here we use a Detroit locker built into the rear of the front rear diff to deal with windup (6x4) mine will have a disconnect air operated at the rear instead of Detroit looker, and locking hubs on the rear diff making mine a true 6x4x2 wheel drive so I will spend most of the time in 2wd and select 4 or 6wd as required and also will be fitting ARB air lockers to all three diffs should be a handy unit
